Guttbuster v. Thorium Rifle

I've already sought out opinions comparing Guttbuster and Thorium Rifle. Here's what lanki had to say:

Guttbuster has a bit more dps and can be used couple lvls earlier than the thorium rifle hence you get a longer use out of it. In short guttbuster > rifle.

Before I hit 45 and bind a gun that cost 35g, I want to make absolutely certain that Guttbuster is sufficiently more powerful than Thorium Rifle to forego a 15g profit on the AH (Guttbuster normally sells for between 40g and 50g).

I should mention that I have a Thorium Rifle with a Sniper Scope attached in Spenser's bank. I spent between 10g and 15g for mats and tip for these two items (the Rifle and the Scope).

On the one hand, Guttbuster has 26.1 DPS and +8 Agility. On the other, Thorium Rifle has 24.2 DPS and +17 Ranged Attack Power. Which is the better gun?

EDIT: lanki: Please don't take any offense at this post. It's not that I don't trust your opinion (as I consider you a l33t Hunter). I just want to have a second opinion before I "finalize" my 35g purchase.

Tek this is another option out of Maraudon Mega Shot Rifle 27.4 dps, +19 attack power and it also is a faster shot than the other two.

It maybe a bit high for you at the moment. I would like this for Icthushoot. It is a relatively short Princess Run then back track a bit.

Aye, it's a very nice gun, but I won't be looking for any gear over level 49 for quite some time. I plan to camp out in the battlegrounds once I hit 48.

Still, if/when I do decide to ding 50, I'll start organizing a run for that shiny gun.

Tek, I believe that you can check all this by just creating a ctprofile at ctprofiles.net. Basically, just create an account and for your hunter select what you already. Change stuff and compare the stats as shown on the character window.

I don't trust allakhazam, so sorry I can't comment on your profile.

I'm not sure about the dmg on each...but lets say they're the same. Then I think i'd personally settle for Thorium. I prefer having more dmg then relying on chance to crit (agi). Not saying you don't need agi, just not too much done for your lvl. Plus, if you're going to pvp more, i'd say stam is another important factor to consider when it comes to gear.

For hunters
1 agi = 2 ranged attack power (rap)
1 agi = 1 melee attack power (ap)
1 stam = 10 life
1 intel =15 mana
1 str = 1 melee attack power
1 attackpower (stat on item) = 1 ranged attack power.
1 spirit = not really important for hunters

For hunters about 52 agility is a crit. (for rogues about 30, for warriors about 15)

Hence if the weapons have the same dps it's upto you which is better 0.15% crit or 1 rap.

It takes a hunter 52 agility to increase his/her critical strike (melee and ranged) by 1%.
