Guild Wars build question...

Hi, I'm a newbie both to Guild Wars and WoW. What I need to know is if there is a general consensus among the CGA or other Christian players for that matter, that it's probably not a good idea to be a Necromancer? It's just that when I play a game, I like to try everything and the Necro was the best, with the Warrior coming in second. My reasoning was the outfit. Some of the outfits were just entirely too revealing for my sensiblities. Any thoughts?

FOr me I love my necro even though I dont play her much (male necros are really really creepy looking why is that?). We have had this discussion at lot recently across multiple forums the consensus seems to be if you have a problem with it then don't roll them, if you are not fussed go ahead. Either way live by you rational decision process but don't make it a hangup for others. From my point of view (which you can read most recently here http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=30154 ), it depends entirely on your situation and ability to use your judgment about how it effects you and those around you.

Well, the alliance leader is a necro, so I guess that ends that.

Seriously though, I had the same thoughts when I joined the alliance. I guess like Ppar said it all comes down to a personal decision. If you feel that playing a Necro is wrong then don't do it. What truly matters is what is in your heart and conscience. I've always believed that some actions are "sins" for some people and not for others.

For example, You have a teen that has been raised in a Christian environment and goes off to college and starts smoking. This teen has always been told smoking is wrong and it's a sin to harm your body which is the temple of God. Yet he starts to smoke anyways even though he knows it's wrong. This is sin. Another teen, possibly his roommate also smokes. This teen is a new Christian and he's been smoking for 2 years now. He doesn't see the problem. He smokes, his parents smoke. Yeah, he knows it bad for him, but so are greasy hamburgers. He's never really thought one way or another about smoking as a Christian. To him this isn't sin. God knows his heart and unless another Christian takes him aside and says he really shouldn't treat the temple of God this way and he's convicted about it then it ain't an issue.

Same here. If you feel bad about playing a necro then don't. I agree with you about the guys. They are scary looking, but I think there are a few options to make them look nicer. I saw a rather handsome male necro in town the other day.

Oh yeah, and about the skimpy clothes... I have a female elementalist in Norn armor. Check it out. Her outfit could probably be worn to the Christian high school I graduated from and it would meet the dress code. She even has a skirt down to her knees. Eles are fun to play.

Nicely put Raven, though I worry about your comments re good looking male necro.

Thanks for the input. Necros and Eles are the most fun for me. I prefer the casting classes. So, I guess the ele armor gets better then. That's a relief.

I gotta agree with all the above comments. My first character was a W/Mo because that seemed like a more "holy" roll. But I have to say that I think I've enjoyed my Necro more.

I also picked a female because the male Ne's looked to skeezy... but now, I've seen some people who rolled some really cool ones. (I think they lightened up a little in Factions and Nightfall.)

The necro stuff doesn't bother me, just because the power to withdraw life, raise the dead, send flies, punish agression, and curse wrongdoers all seem like things that your good old OT prophets would do anyway. (I'm still waiting for the Summon Bears hex.)

But I agree with the above... If it makes you feel like you're compromising your values don't do it. You'll have plenty of fun dropping fireballs on people as an ele.

I find that the official guild wars wiki is a great source of information. You can look up all the available armor for all the classes, in addition to lots of other helpful information.
It does look like at least one less risque option for female ele does exist post searing.

As a side note, my wife refuses to play a pre-searing ele because of the clothes.

She could start an elementalist in Factions or Nightfall and not have to do the pre-searing at all - plus she would level up a lot faster.

Ummm, no. If she thinks the pre-searing Elementalist is too uh, revealing then she'll definitely HATE the Nightfall starter armor.

Canthan starter armor isn't too bad however. Ele's have a short skirt but everything else is covered.

Yes, there's more fabric on the top for the Factions starter armor.

Nightfall, however...well, it's modest if you compare it to Lelu's ace bandage costume in The Fifth Element. But that's about all you can say for it.
