Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack Promotion

For a limited time, when you spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Official Guild Wars (online) Store, you will get a Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack for free!

The Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack will allow you to play through four pivotal moments in Guild Wars history. Earn unique rewards as you go face-to-face with Palawa Joko and his undead army as one of the key figures in the Battle of Jahai. Experience part of Cantha's turbulent past as you witness the violent Tengu Wars. Learn firsthand how the White Mantle rose to power in Kryta. And, finally, discover what became of Gwen after the Charr invaded her home and the Searing destroyed everything she'd ever known.

The Guild Wars Mission Pack will be released sometime between November 1 and November 30, 2007. The contents will then be permanently available to the accounts of those who spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Official Guild Wars (online) Store between 12 p.m. (Noon) PST July 5, 2007 and 12 p.m. (Noon) PST October 31, 2007. This promotion is limited to one per account. The Guild Wars Mission Pack is not transferable and will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion.

and GWEN is supposed to come out on August 31st while the promo ends oct. 31st, meaning if you buy GWEN online then you get this. Since most people already have all three campains and unless u buy the PvP packs or 3 new character slots it is hard to buy 30$ worth of stuff on the store. Yay for ordering online!

and for all u AB fans

Alliance Battles

To better reward players for participating in Alliance Battles even when in enemy territory, we have introduced a new "Underdog Bonus."
In the Luxon defense map, Kaanai Canyon, Kurzick players will receive Kurzick faction points equal to twice their score.
In the Luxon defense map, Etnaran Keys, Kurzick players will receive Kurzick faction points equal to their score.
In the middle map, Saltspray Beach, neither Kurzick nor Luxon players will receive a bonus.
In the Kurzick defense map, Grenz Frontier, Luxon players will receive Luxon faction points equal to their score.
In the Kurzick defense map, The Ancestral Lands, Luxon players will receive Luxon faction points equal to twice their score.

Fixed a bug that prevented Alliance Battles from beginning if a party failed to load.
Added Xunlai Storage and faction reward NPCs to Alliance Battle outposts.

Also on another side note:

Miscellaneous
Deaths in the Dragon Arena no longer affect the Survivor title track.

so theres Stc update report brought to you by Stc Minion Co. :D

yea if it weren't for the fact that i was gonna get GWEN through the online store I wouldn't be getting this. I've already spent at least that much on upgrading my account to the GotY edition as well as numerous character slots and nightfall.

In all honesty I'm quite disappointed that they're releasing it in this way, and frankly a bit concerned. There was a time when Anet claimed that all content with the exception of campaigns and expansions would be free upgrades(Ex. Sorrow's Furnace, Domain of Anguish to name a couple) It sounds like a neat little addon that should be made available to everyone, because you just know there will be some kind of reward for completing each of these bonus missions and those without the bonus pack will just complain, and rightly so. This move on Anet's part also concerns me in that this is a move I would expect from a dying game that needs to produce revenue. I just hope that GWEN can give the game the pick me up it's long needed.

actually, they may be doing this so that you buy GW:EN from the online store, and all revenue goes directly to them, instead of only getting a part of it.

not a bad move, really.

*eyeroll* Like I'll buy merchandise to get four missions. I'll just read up on guildwiki how the white mantle came to power after it's out :P

Well, since I was trying to decide whether to buy it in store or get it online via their store, the mission pack tipped the balance largely in favor of ordering online.

Which, I think, was their whole idea all along.

yep. i was going to go out and try and find a place to pre-order it, but that came along and worked its magic. Now im debating whether to wait to upgrade to the GotY when i get GWEN or do it now since i can spare that much money (IM A POOR BOY LEAVE ME ALONE!! :p)

It's all going to depend on what you get in a pre-order pack. Like with NF you got a couple of weapons and an extra character slot.

I my experience you do not have to buy the complete game at a store just because you bought the pre-order from them.

Honestly it is a great idea to try and "tempt" people to buy online. All the proceeds go straight to the company and none to the middle man. Honestly... i'm totally up for buying online now.

i looked on the Guru forums about this and there was a lot of discussion of how people didnt like it or how people loved it or in the middle. It was kinda interesting. :)

I think it's smart for Anet to drive people to their online store. They have given us so many "free" updates/bonuses (ie Sorrows Furnace, Hard Mode, etc) that it's only right for them to make some money. They will be selling more than just campaigns. They will be selling apparel and other items soon.

I like having the box of goodies so I preordered GW:EN at GameStop. However, I just had to fight in those bonus missions that shaped the lore of GW, so I bought 3 character slots for the bonus mission pack. =)

technically it still is free content. Now, mind you that u still have to pay money to get it, but its like a buy one get one free kinda thing. Its free, only if you pay money, so really they never have broken their word about "all free content!"
