Games

Ok, so I bought a xbox 360 and I wanted to know what games are good for it? I've already got halo 3 so. and on another note, anyone know of any good computer games to play either?

For the PC, I enjoy some of the strat games like Civ IV, but they tend to be long and drawn out....hard to get enough players that have time for a full game together, and if you try to save a campaign and play later, it's even harder to get everyone together. Altho the game I played with Deed and Kuratos was really really fun - I learned a lot and managed to take over enemy cities without combat!

I like the FPS games (CS, Q, UT) but I haven't played them for years. I had Battlefield 2 and played it quite a bit, but I was playing alone and a TON of people cheated (shoot through walls, insta-snipe from 1000 yards, etc) and it really took the fun out of it. I hear that BF2142 is better about that stuff, but still has problems.

I noticed that games that require kicking systems left me at a distinct disadvantage. While I have a decent computer, it's a little old and way underpowered for all the new games that are coming out. Even on the lower graphics settings, I still lag pretty bad.

For 360? No idea. I've only ever played Halo

For XBOX 360:
I suggest Gears of War, great FPS but a bit graphic though. The Marvel Alliance game rocks, my kids got it for Christmas and if you are a comic book freak you will love it. My wife and I have been playing Tetris for the 360 too, (believe it or not) forgot how addicting that game was... And if you are a sports game type the EA Games sports games are all pretty decent.

For the PC:
I have some friends that play BioShock and say that is a great game with some very twisted plot lines, I also hear that Call of Duty 4 is great but I am with Randy on the slow outdated computer, I still play UT and UT2004...

PC choices:
Call of Duty 4, Orange box, Counter-strike, World of Warcraft, Guildwars, Starcraft:Broodwar or the ever addicting Peggle.

Xbox 360:
Gears of War, Halo 3, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed and if your PC can't handle Call of Duty 4 I would recommend it yet again for this system.

gears of war and mass effect for 360 are amazing

If you just got an Xbox 360, then you need not look any further than Oblivion. It's over 1 year and a half old, but still my favorite game on the 360. It's a first person RPG (also has a 3rd person camera option). That game has loads of gameplay, stellar AI and graphics, and has some of the best executed non-linear quest designs I have ever encountered.

Gears of War is good, although very bloody and graphic as previously stated. Unfortunately you can probably beat it in a couple of nights I have a hard time dropping $59.99 or whatever on 6 hours of gameplay. If you can find a used or discounted one that would be best.

Call of Duty 4 is a good one, I have not played all the way through but so far it is really engaging. I'm also a bit biased because I used to work for the company that published that game (my name is in the credits for all the CoDs up until CoD4). :)

Bioshock is excellent, even if it did paint a negative picture of one of my favorite books (Atlas Shrugged). The development team are partially composed of remnants from Looking Glass Studios, the team that brought us greats such as System Shock 2 and Thief. I loved all of those. Great AI, fantastic sound effects, voice acting, and great game mechanics. It did bug me that they based the story around an individualist society and completely demonized it as if it could only lead way to complete narcissism and chaos. Most game developers are socialists though, what can I say?

You can always play RROD, it is an awesome MMO (massively multi player off line) game where you ship your 360 away for repairs.

If I were to own a 360 I would go for Gears of War and COD4, both look breath taking and I love shooters (if only keyboard/mouse...)

I really enjoy Guitar Hero 2 & 3. Also Rockband. I also am enjoying Ace Combat 6 currently.

If you like driving games, Forza 2 is excellent. Been playing it since it came out.

This seems as good a place to post this as any...

The only 360 game I know about is the previously mentioned Red Ring of Death series. It's gotten lackluster reviews though... But I do have a gift of Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode 1 for PC sitting around. It came with my purchase of the Orange Box. So if you have a Steam account and want to take a excellent FPS for a spin, let me know.
