Games You Wish Other People Played

Let's face it. A bazillion people are going to play the next Call of Duty, even if the DRM requires a blood sample before every game session. But you're just not going to find a second person who wants to play Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix online (well, maybe one other).

So this thread is less of a matchmaking thread and more of a daydreaming thread. This thread is not to be confused with the I Bought This Game On A Steam Sale And I Have No One To Play It With thread, though there may be some crossover.

So, out with it! What games do you wish other people played? Let's keep the list to online multiplayer games only.

I'm going to throw a few titles out there:
  • Critter Crunch (PSN)
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (PSN)
  • Tetris (PSN)
  • Tekken 6 (PSN)
  • Wipeout HD Fury (PSN)
  • Hustler King (Japanese PSN) Stop looking at me like that. Plenty of Americans have Japanese PSN accounts. Okay, five. Five of them do.
  • Soulcalibur IV (PS3) Just kidding. SCIV netcode is horribad. Not Super Smash Bros. Brawl bad, but still pretty awful.
  • Hoard (PC)
  • Zero Gear (PC)
  • Plain Sight (PC)
  • Madballs in...Babo: Invasion (PC)
  • Quake Live (PC) Seriously, people, it's free to play Quake 3 in a web browser. Why are more people not playing this?
  • Mario Kart Wii (Wii) BLUE SHELL! BLUE SHELL! BLUE SHELL!
  • Pokemon Black/White (DS) How else am I ever going to get a Zorua egg?
Okay, that's more than a few. But those are the ones that I could list off the top of my head.

- Lost Planet: Colonies Editon
- Resident Evil: Online (PS2)
- Commandos 2
- Starcraft/Brood War
- Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction
- Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East

-Portal 2 coop mode
You might want to talk to DannyMeister. He hasn't started the Portal 2 coop campaign yet.

On second thought, wait until I run the Calibration Course with him so I can get my achievement. :D

And I'm pretty sure Whon and imbrucy only have the 5th set of test chambers left to complete.

No Worms Reloaded?

-Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
-Tribes: Vengeance
-Unreal Tournament 2004
Next time you want to hit a UT2004 Onslaught server, just let me know. I'll bring the PANCAKE!s.

I don't have DoW: Dark Crusade installed, but the original DoW campaign is on my single-player backlog. Maybe after I figure out the basics, I could play some online matches.

EVE Online.
>nobody plays.
>like wut.

Also, I play casually. VERY casually. Stir up a lot of trouble for myself every now and then and never getting anywhere. But still.

i just finished the coop campaign with a friend on Portal 2. I honestly felt it was more fun than the single player campaign (I did love the SP campaign though and am on my second playthrough). Unfortunately the coop campaign felt short, so I'm hoping for an expansion pack.

We shifted to Left 4 Dead 2 while we wait.

Agreed.

Portal 2 is one of the very few games where I would actually consider paying money for new coop levels (IF the price was reasonable). Free coop levels would be even better, though. :)

Tribe of Judah has a Left 4 Dead 2 game night every Wednesday! The lobby opens at 8:15 p.m. Central and we start at 8:30 p.m. More information is available on the ToJ L4D Chapter Forum.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (PSN)
Puzzle Fighter is on sale on PSN for $5 this week.

If you like puzzle games, own a PS3, and don't already own the game, I highly recommend dropping five bucks on the game and adding me (PSN ID gummyzergling) to your PSN friends list for a bit of friendly competition.

I read that Valve is working on map packs for portal 2. Rumored to be free. Not sure the credibility though since it wasn't on the official site.

The nice thing about having the Mac (or PC) version instead of the console is that there is a map making community out there. http://thinkingwithportals.com

Just find and download a map, drop it in the appropriate directory, enable the console, and then load the map by name. The recently had a contest for best user created map. I downloaded and tried the winning one and I have to say it's creative, but tough.

Bwah? How did I miss that?

Got a link to the contest winners?

Speaking of which...
If you're upset about this DLC arriving later than you expected it to, but still within its stated release window, let us remind you: this is more Portal 2, that Valve is giving you for free.

HUZZAH! I'll finally get to show off my potato hat in Portal 2 coop. :D

I just noticed there are 2 games that are free. Alien Swarm was played a lot when released. Now its barely played.

And Trackmania can be played with 50 players.

- Alien Swarm
- Trackmania Nations Forever

Ah lame. You need to buy Trackmania to play ANY server.

Mabinogi - Love the game, just don't have any Christians to play with. :( Search far and wide for a Christian guild, but to no avail. Don't have the finances to start one so I just basically quit playing it. Not fun, nor really achievable on your own. If anyone joins, I'm on the Alexina server and my name is "Abea" (although I'm never on so you should message me here. lol)

Mabinogi is free (mostly) but if you want a pet or something it costs money. The most expensive pet is about 10 bucks. There's other things you can buy as well. Start out with a human and then you can get an elf and a giant for free.

"The player is not limited by any class other than the character's race, and is free to level up any of the different skills available. ... The gameplay is largely skill-based. To learn and improve skills, Ability Points (AP) are required. ... In combat, predicting the enemy's skills and making use of combat skills is important. Some monsters are aggressive and will attack and pursue on sight (also called "aggroing"), while others attack in a pack or completely ignore the player. Unlike other MMOs, Mabinogi's combat is arguably more tactical in nature - requiring careful analysis and timing of what skills to use and in what fashion. As opposed to the 'tank' roles portrayed in other online games, Mabinogi's combat focuses on the player not being hit at all - through careful use of skills and precise timing. The overall complexity of Mabinogi's combat system has made it much more difficult for training bots to be developed. Many are just designed to farm the significantly easier low-level monsters for in-game currency. ... There is a wide range of Life skills which give the player the chance to experience a different side of the “fantasy life”. Players can perform tasks such as tending to the wheat and potato fields, making flour, gathering wool from sheep and eggs from hens, weaving and making garments, mining for minerals and crafting weapons, playing and composing music, cooking dishes, taming animals, etc."

Just an FYI - from some one who enjoys the multi-player online game but isn't really into doing all the research on them - It would be great if you guys included (maybe edited your posts) the estimated price and a brief description of the games. I might try some of them if the price is right. :D
