Games not detecting CD's

This problem only affects the Blizzard games that I have installed. All of them were fine until one day I went to play WC3 and it said 'please insert the CD before continuing' or something along that line. I checked my CD drive and there it was, in my drive as always. So I tried the other drive...Nada. I checked Blizzard support and the only solution it had was to use the original CD, which I was doing. I came back later and decided to play some Diablo 2, same problem.

I read on some random forum that Blizzard games have a bad reaction to any emulation software installed. I have used DC Tools' Daemon Tools program to emulate a game CD/ISO before. I tried uninstalling that and the problem persists, any ideas? I was forced to use a No-CD hack to play WC3, and I really don't feel to safe using it while playing online for fear of getting banned.

Using a BitTorrent client to download a retail CD image is illegal. If you already paid for and own the game, then downloading a CD image and burning a new copy would be considered fair use; however, when you use a BT client, you're also uploading (distributing) the CD image, which is a big no-no.

apoc: You could dump an image of the Frozen Throne CD, mount it using Alcohol 120% (retail) or Daemon Tools (freeware), and enable SecuROM emulation. I'm nearly certain that this would classify as "fair use." I believe you may have to use Alcohol 120% to create an image (in .MDS format and emulating RPMS) that, when mounted, will pass the TFT CD check.

Whenever possible, I dump images of retail CDs to my PC even before installing to ensure that I don't damage the CD and lose $40 or $50. It's also rather inconvenient to insert the CD every time I wish to play a game--especially if I'm switching between several games that use CD checks. Blizzard is one of the few companies that lacks the good sense to remove CD checks after a few patches. Companies such as Valve, Epic, and id Software do not force such inconveniences on their paying customers.

Just for reference: WC3: TFT uses SecuROM 5.00.007 as of version 1.13.

And just to clarify: Using Daemon Tools to mount images of retail CDs that you don't own is not only illegal, but also contrary to Daemon Tools' developers' wishes.

Thanks for the responce(s), however I have tried this (w/ SecuROM enabled even) and it still will not work. It appears it's something I've installed thats messing with it. I affraid a format will be the final solution here. If you have any further ideas, let me know. I wont be formatting anytime soon.
 
I currently run Microsoft Anti-Spyware and AVG. I leave my computer going overnight and it scans everynight automatically, updates are also downloaded automatically.
 
I know the nfs games won't let them play if you have a cd burner installed. There is some kind of patch that doesn't let nfs see the cd as a cd burner. I had that problem once. I cannot remember what I actually done. sorry

use spybot search and destroy to get rid of spyware. so far I've let it delete everything it finds and no problems yet. It does an excellent job. I hope it goes like that for you. :)
