Fun while it lasted - tech problem or God?

Well it was really fun to see everyone in Azeroth again. I was not expecting to have that much fun with the game again to be honest. The DK and the starting area was a total blast. I love the phasing elements to the zones and the mechanics of the DK were very entertaining.

Alas I have a major problem and cannot play the game at all. Every time I load the game right at the end of the loading screen before it enters the game, my PC freezes and never comes back to life. This happens 100% of the time now. SO weird as I did not change anything recently.

I removed the WTF and all addons, I upgraded my Video drivers, I have narrowed it down to one error in the event logs (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc727148.aspx) and it seems to do more with Vista then anything else. Unfortunately I do not have the time to reload Vista (not sure that would fix it anyways) as I need this machine for work.

So either WoW hates me, I have an unfortunate game stopping bug, or God has predestined me not to get hooked on WoW again. Probably all of the above!

Well anyways, I wanted to post so the people I was talking with recently know why I disappeared so fast. I still have 8 days on the trial and was serious considering a purchase of WotLK but this made my decision for me.

Ciao and see you on the forums.

Sounds like something that would be affecting other systems and programs on your computer as well at some point in time. The problem and the solution provided in the link is pretty cryptic. So much so, I went and learned 4 dialects of Chinese, an Arabic language, French and German in the time it took me to read the first line in that link.

Oh well, maybe it is God burning out your computer.

You downloaded Questhelper.....I told you not to...and I was serious..I can't log in with it on most of the time either...see!

dang you Questhelper!!!! No it can't be that, unless it is really devious. I am now experiencing the problem without launching any game, just surfing the web. I am contacting my vendor now to see if this is under warranty.

From that link you provided, there is no 1 answer. One person had a root worm and other guy had head cold. It's one of those Micro-snot issues that just seems to pop up with random people for no apparent reason. Not being able to logon in Dalaran with Questhelper loaded is a known issue with Questhelper as it attempts to sync with everybody else in the zone running questhelper.

OK well I uninstalled WoW and then didnt get any lockups for the next hour while playing multiple games at once...so it seems that it was WoW that caused the issues. I guess that even while not playing if there were corrupted files they could mess up the machine as the windows search tried to access them or something.

Sooooo I guess I better reinstall WoW to see if this is true or not eh?

bad...after reinstall the freezing came right back. Apparently WoW has it out for me and will not let me have itself anywhere on my HD or it causes full-system freeze effect crit for 900000pts.

Man, I was really wanting to see you come back. What a reunion that was working out to be! I hope, however, that whatever you decide everything works out best for you. Even though WoW can be a bad distraction from daily activities / duties, I've found that it can also be an amazing stress reliever if used/played properly lol.

I hope to see you on again Mike, and hopefully often.

Yeah I know, was so sweet to see all of you again! I decided to wipe the system and reinstall everything...maybe see you in a few days if it works.

I have been using questhelper for a LONG time and have had no issues with it freezing, locking me up, or causing other problems. It works wonderful and I log in at Dalaran just about everytime I play healsalot.

Haha I would if I could..but this rig is not a Costco special :(

my backup is almost complete...probably reload windows tonight. Here is hoping!

i had this happening on a previous computer too that someone had gifted to me. didn't go through all the attempts at fixes you are, I hope they work! had to buy a whole new system but there were other issues with that computer too, crashes, etc.

yeah...killing monsters is good substitue for going crazy on insane and not particularly bright clients

wait...did isay that out loud???

The obvious answer here is that Mrs. Ewoks is a hacker and has infected your computer with the anti-WoW virus. There is only one solution.

WAR.
