you missed my point..if his motherboard doesn't do ddr2-800( and considering what was isntlaled wasn't ddr2-800) the chips are going to downclock no matter what..and most notebooks don't actually do ddr2-800
When Dell shipped the notebook out, they included 1GB PC2-6400 RAM, so I'm pretty sure my notebook is capable of running it at full speed.
The only reason I "downgraded" from PC2-6400 to PC2-5300 is because I have 2GB of PC2-5300 (that I originally bought for my Inspiron E1705) and only 1GB of the PC2-6400.
that was not mentioned that i was aware..heheheh..the difference between the two speeds is going to net you less than 5% in raw synthetic memory benchmarks..you aren't going to see much if any kind of real world improvement..but if you have the ddr2-800 ram may as well throw it in..
