Free DVD player software?

Can anyone recommend good but free DVD player software? It must be free of spyware and adware, too.

Aye, I know, I'm picky. :)

You can find an app that can play DVDs anywhere, but you have to have a legal DVD decoder installed on your computer for those applications to work.

I think I have a copy of WinDVD somewhere. I can copy it on ISO (the software is not being used, so it wouldn't violate any licensing and it was legitimately acquired by myself) and FTP it to you. I'm pretty sure that is still legal as long as I don't use the original copy.

doesn't VLC play DVDs? It takes a little bit of setting up (just playing with some video settings), but you should be able to handle it. It's a really nice media player once you get it working.

That's what I use usually. I know it plays DVDs, but you might need the k-lite codec pack for DVD support. But if you watch videos you download off the internet (err... you know... podcasts and stuff :)), then you should have that already.
