Free Beta Trial of GW:Factions - Friend pass thread

For those of you who play regularly, I'm sure you noticed the box added to the character selection screen a week or so ago about the upcoming beta trial of GW:Factions on March 24-26.

If you have all 4 character slots full, please use one of your 3 friend passes to invite yourself (on a second acct) to try the weekend since they will not be added any character slots until the game launches. We'll have to start a thread on March 24 with your new character names so we can find you during the weekend.

For the remaining passes, I thought it would be best to offer them up to the rest of ToJ and the CGA. So if you are someone who would like to try GW:Factions during the trial weekend, post here and someone will PM you for the info we need to send an invitation/pass key.

This is stand alone right? (i.e. the person getting the invite doesn't need to own Guild Wars) Another question, do I need to have a character slot open for a friend to use one of my codes.

Yes, Factions is a stand alone product. And no, you don't have to have a character slot open for your friend. They will get their own character.

I don't know if it will only be PvP or not. I would assume that they will at least throw us PvE people a small bone though.
 
GW: Factions will be a stand-alone title - you won't need the original, but won't have access to the Tyrian continent or many of the skills from the first chapter either.

Anyone with an account in good standing will automatically have access to this event (no event key needed).

The friend pass will enable your friend to create a new account with 4 character slots of their own that will only be active during the weekend or until a retail key is added to the account. After the weekend, they will be able to log in, but won't be able to enter the game world. Because they will create their own stand-alone account, there will be no impact on the original account that sent an invitation.

According to the press release and FAQ published on the GW website, this should be a full beta, meaning access to BOTH PvE and PvP content from the new expansion.

Yeah, that's what I want to know. Doesn't look like my husband will have our beta account turned into a real account by then.

Someone bug him about that...
 
Yes! Just send an invite to the email address you used to create the second account. The email message sent via the game interface will include a key. After you log in click the manage account button and add the key from the email. The accounts created for the PvP weekend will probably automatically prompt you for a key since they don't have a valid retail key.
 
Just so you all know, you don't need to give someone a friend key for them to try it out in march. GuildWars.com has a page with a free key for anyone to use. So if you want to give it to multiple friends you can just give them the one from GuildWars.com. I can't seem to find the page anymore, I guess they took it down for some strange reason.

But if you read teh FAQ on the main site, each account can send 3 invitations. So you have alot of flexibility there.
 
If you can find the page, please post the link here. I know they had a key posted for the PvP Free-for-all weekend, but I don't think that key will work for the March event.

I've already sent one of mine to a co-worker (and ToJ member) and have another co-worker considering it (I work for a big company).
 
The in-game invitation requires "freind's email address". Please PM me your email address and I will send you an invitation to that address.
 
Factions invites available

Dorkelf and I will have three invites available, I believe. We may have one or two more. Depends on my siblings...
