Fractured Wrist and Hand Surgery

Bowser

Tribe of Judah StarCraft Series Chapter Leader
I become injured on a weekly basis. Nearly every week I walk into the office with a new (minor) injury, and it's even become a running joke in my office. I'm either limping, groaning, or bandaged up somehow. This week I more or less topped it.

Anyway, I fractured my wrist, and it's far more serious than I thought. It will require a pin being placed in my hand to help stabilize the bones, and worst case scenario the doctor will have to graph some bone from my hip and use that to supplement the structure in my hand. The doctor said I can expect to see early arthritis.

It happened sometime when I was snowboarding during the winter, although I don't know exactly which time I fractured it. The early x-ray's showed a fracture, and I wasn't able to follow up because I was TDY (also I didn't think it was very serious, despite the doctor's pleas to see a specialist). Now I've learned that the fracture is indeed (kind of) serious, and the specialist was shocked I hadn't seen him sooner. He rushed my appointment up because he thinks it needs to be operated on as soon as possible, if we wait too long then the bone will die completely; it's already lost a lot of blood and is starting to dry out.

Anyway, I hope you will help me pray for a successful surgery and quick, full recovery. I'm very nervous of having a metal screw in my body, but I suppose it happens to a lot of people, so maybe I'll live. I also hope I'll continue to play all of the sports that I currently enjoy.

I think you broke it in that 2v2 game. Starcraft. Kills your wrists.

Praying for a speedy healing and recovery, brother man.

Wearing interior metal is not necessarily the end of activity, just crazyness. Praying for surgery and peace for you.

I know you are looking forward to setting off all the metal detectors in airports and shopping malls, and then there is the teasing about having a screw loose.....or a loose screw...but seriously, you are too young to be falling apart! Take care, praying the surgery goes well.

I had the follow-up appointment with the doctor today. The bone is very slowly starting to regrow. He allowed me to go without a cast, and has me in a removable splint now.

My hand still hurts, but at least this way I'll get a little more movement to it. Please continue to pray for recovery, and also that I don't re-injure it lol

Thank you!

Yes sirree!

Glad to see a good report! This is totally a girl thing to say, but it would be too much to ask if you'd take it easy until it fully heals, eh? :) Prayin'!
