Forum Idea

It is not original, but I thought it would be a good idea to have a "guild only" section for posting info like the guild info that should be kept within the guild. I found this valuable while active in The Forgiven who also share the CGA forums with us. I did not even know it existed until I became an actual part of it. Something like that would be handy for us, also.

The problem that ive seen in the past with this (raid admin forum) is that sometimes it takes FOREVER (almost a year for me) to get access to them because of all that fun stuff. maybe its plausible but from experience it takes way to long sometimes

Doesn't Redeemed already have a private forum? I think it's only for people who hold the Veteran title though.

Not really, it lets you post personal stuff without having trolls and search engine spiders leeching on your posts.

I really like the idea of having a forum for just Redeemed members. But if we do, I have a feeling the "Redeemed General" forum will be abandoned. And we'd be excluding a lot of people that just randomly stop in to post something or say hello.

no no, it's part of this forums. The admins can set up a forum that requires you to be approved (ie, a member of Redeemed) to see that particular forum.

Like i said it takes FOREVER to be admitted into certain parts of the forums because its not our mods doing it but the mods of the entire forum (at least thats how it was a while back)

still the same. it's just one or two people that manage all the accounts. I suppose this could be a good time to point to the Help Wanted thread.

Guild leaders have discussed forums on a regular basis, as to if what we have is best. Opinions vary, but as long as we have a place to communicate that is what is most important. As far as having a 'members only' section, that may be a viable idea but who do we gateway there? What if members stop playing for temporary reasons, finances, school, work, etc., who do we allow in, and will this public forum be abandoned with a members only section. Yes, it also does take some time to make changes on the forums as we don't directly administer them, but work with TOJ, and TOJ has ideas also; there is a lot of cross game Christian fellowship that occurs on the forums which is why an open format is nice. But, I'd probably not be opposed to a 'members only' section but it would take much more time and people to adminster it and that might be a barrier we can't overcome.

As Durruck pointed out above, help wanted.....

A good reason for having a private, guild only forum:

Someone had a problem and needed to discuss it. Discussion was done, questions were answered, love and forgiveness shown, and some things said that would better remain private for guild members only.

And once a guild member, always a guildie, active or inactive, on this board I would think unless there were reasons for exclusion from the guild due to being extremely offensive.

/agree with Sam.

The TF boards remain available to those that have left the game, changed servers, etc.

It's been nice to be able to keep up with my friends there despite the fact that I don't play with them anymore. And there's actually as far more discussion in the general forum than there is in the private forum (by a 3:1 ratio).

Internal politics, specific prayer requests, and inside jokes typically take place in the private forum, where people aren't afraid to use real names, explain the situations.

The hardest part will be getting everyone set up and added to the list. If you decide to do it, please be patient with the forums admin that has to set it up. You guys are a rather sizeable group of people and it'll mean a lot of time getting each profile updated.

I think a better use of that thread would be that Veteran status can place a divide in the guild instead of helping unify it.

Regardless, everyone disputes - even Christians.

All i have to say is if you have a problem with how certain things are PLEASE talk to an officer PLEASE. We can't grow more if no one talks with them. It's so frustrating to see people just building up feelings towards things then just unloading them.
We as a guild seriously need to pray for each other. We need to look at things in a mature perspective and not blame all on the officers. How can officers fix something if no one talks to THEM about it?

Can you clarify what you mean by this statement? I don't want to assume but the way I read your statement is that Veteran status is a negative because it can cause division.

I only ask because I think there are some major misconceptions about veteran status going on that we need to address and rather than oversimplifying, or overstating the issue, and to avoid overreaction or knee-jerk solutions.

New approaches can be difficult initially, but sometimes the resistance or learning curve will bear much fruit in the long run.
