Firefox vs IE..

For the last decade or so, I've been running firefox under the belief that it is more secure, lighter, and faster.. Is this still the case today?

Chrome is superior I believe. It's faster than the new Firefox, 3.0 or so has gotten much slower. :/

Chrome is ftw (I've used it for a while now and I love it); firefox feels slow to me as well. I avoid IE like the plague. I don't even let it open image files for me.

this. also...

Chrome > Firefox > Safari > Opera > .......... > Internet Explorer

Firefox 4 (still in beta) is pretty fast, but still slower than Chrome. My only complaint about Chrome is no "NoScript", but the process sandboxing more than makes up for this.

I use Chrome most of the time and love it. Safari is pretty close behind in terms of speed, and I actually like the favorites screen better then Chromes, but the recently closed tabs of Chrome are very helpful if you accidentally close something. Also, chrome doesn't work with netflix, so you may take that into consideration. I would say my usage is 85% Chrome, 15% Safari.

Let me fill in the blanks for you Lloren:

Chrome > Firefox > Safari > Opera > Cardboard Prop that comes with the computer desk > Internet Explorer

IE has some uses ... The java applet that let's me online deposit checks via scanning them only works in IE, and my corporate Web Outlook works way better in IE ... Full version vs. Light. But overall, chrome is much better, agree.

What's so bad about IE? That's what I use... Y'all are scaring me haha.

IE is put out by Microsoft. Hackers hate Microsoft. Hackers make scripts for IE. IE is the less safer choice when it comes to website browsing.

Because Chrome, Firefox and others besides IE aren't tied intimately with your OS, they are safer for your PC. They're just applications. When hackers get you using IE... its my understanding they have more access than just your browsing history and cookies.

I believe that's basically correct. HCS explained it on his site once in detail but I haven't got the link handy.

You should maybe get something else, Bill... Unless you want me to keep using your identity to buy exotic animals. I've already trained the spider monkey to fetch me donuts.

I want one! A donut that is. I have a fiancé to fetch me donuts now. Let's hope she doesn't read this forum post...... :P

Maybe I'll look into chrome. I've never like firefox.

Yeah. She may use a hack to get into your IE and use your credit card to buy you a dog house.

ROFL! Odale is a man of true understanding when it comes to the fairer sex.

I may have to give something besides Firefox a try because it is sooooo slow. IE is quicker, but using that to browse is an open invitation to expose my vitals. So Chromie has a browser? I will have to check this out! Gotta love Chromie...unless you are Mordos. I bet he even likes the MS product tho, with a name like "more DOS." Such a Gates disciple...

LOL!! I do like IE and use it a lot, but I do use chrome some as well, but school doesn't like chrome and Firefox is garbage.

MS products pay my bills, it's my line of work and it pays well so yeah I'll always be a MS junkie... well as long as I'm in this business.

Your donuts might taste a little different from now on. Or I'll just get you Dunken Donuts instead of Krispy Kreme.
