I am one of those continually poor people in Guild wars. I have lots of chars so naturally i spend lots of money on runes, skills, etc. I was just wondering if you guys had any recommendations on where to farm and what builds to use. Thx.

go 2 this 1 place in um nf it haz gud stuf that drawps and it b ez

Best C$ Post Ever.

Mist if you can be more specific, like what characters do you have, where can they go, etc. Some farm builds require specific gear to be most effective so you may need a little capital to get you started. But let us know about your characters so we can suggest some farming builds that are more adequate to you.

i have a monk that can go anywhere
A ranger that can go anywhere in Tyria
A war that can got to all of tyria
A assassin that can go to all of nightfall
A dervish that can got to all of Nightfall

I'm up for dualing with you there mate, I continually am right smack out of cash... i sold my Amulet of the mists, and a week later was broke again... but my MM is a real MM now :D

Please, i would like to hear of people's preferred methods of Farming. The only farming runs i really know of are as follows : Next to Droks, Trolls (Quick); Gates of Kryta mission, Drakes (good) ; Kryta, Ettin (o.k.).

I've heard of Hydra farming in the desert yet i don't understand how that works. Please, if you read this, post your preferred method of farming.

If this helps, I have :

Warrior Tyria and some of Nightfall (main character)
Elemental Tyria and some of Factions
Ranger Some of Factions
Ritualist Some of Factions
Necro Tyria

yeah.... the rest of my characters aren't lvl 20 yet.

I run the hydra farm quite frequently. My build is as follows:

W/Me
Sever Artery
Gash
Galrath Slash
Hundred Blades or Dragon Slash
Healing Signet
"Watch Yourself"
Dolyak signet
Elemental Resistance

This gives you enough damage output and enough armor to fend off 1-6 Hydras at a time if you're careful about healing in between attacks. I'm still trying to work on a build for hard mode as 1-2 hydras are pretty good at taking me out with this current build.

I'll add some other builds and spots I know of later. Right now I'm at work and I don't get internet at home until Thursday. So I don't have a lot of time to write up my farming stuff.

ducky and i two-manned the hydras in hard mode. He the tank, I the bonder/healer monk. We did very good, until the hydras targeted me. But on the whole it did very nice. i could normaly run away and/or not get attacked.

just a suggestion.

and the way i make money, i play the game. i have about 80K in my storage just by playing the game. Tombs run are fun, and a good way to make some dough. But mainly i just get my money from selling whites and anything else i get from missions. But then again i have never broken the 100k record...

I have an earth ele solo Hydra build (for use outside Augury Rock), but I haven't tried it on hard mode yet. I tend to get bored with the Hydra runs pretty quick and the Meteor knockdowns get annoying.

Earth 16
Ene Stg 13

Cast these enchants before aggroing and try to keep them going to protect yourself and keep your health and ene up:
Kinetic Armor
Armor of Earth
Earth Attunement
Aura of Restoration

Use these to do damage between enchants:
Aftershock
Cyrstal Wave

When low on ene, use:
Ether Renewal
Stone Daggers (spam)

Like I said, it takes a little timing to avoid interrupts of the enchant by the meteor knockdown, but don't panic if you do get ineterrupted. Just do your best to keep Kinetic Armor up, during a fight. Aura of restoration usually works good as a quick spammable with a fast enough recharge if you need to hit it again. I'm sure there are some newer skills that might work better, but like I said, I haven't done it in a while.

HEHEHEHE....
I'm liking that build. I did a dry test run.... / messaround with that. I wasn't really paying much attention. I messed with some stats etc. Now the one thing i will say is... WOW you have to move your attribute points over alot of sections, yet... if you have the right equipment... THIS BUILD / RUN ROCKS!!!

I tried to do the run, in all seriousness; and it took me 10 minutes... and i got 1.5k wow.... i haven't seen a good run like that in a while. or maybe i'm just a little drugged up since i had surgery today.... i will see if this is real in the morning.

10 mins?!?! Then you've far exceeded my skill. It usually takes me a good 30-40 mins to clear all the Hydras outside Augry.

I just got a "Live now in the Fire" inscription for shields the other day so I think I'll slap that bad boy on one of my inscribe-ables in my storage and take it along for a Hydra run later to see how much more damage it reduces.

Gear wise I currently use an Exalted Aegis, Sskai's Sword, Full 15k Dragon Armor, Superior Vigor, Superior Absorption, Superior Swordsmanship, Minor Strength, and Minor Tactics.

My attributes are something like this:
Swordsmanship: 15
Strength: 8
Tactics: 8
Inspiration: 2

Those are rough estimates as I cannot remember the build specifically right now. I'm pretty sure they're off, but this gives you a rough idea.

haha, no it didn't take me 10 minutes to clear ALL the hydras. I probably killed off about..... x < 20 hyrdas in about... 15 minutes... or so. so.... yeah.... and the reason i'm doing more farming is i'm saving up for 15k armor. so i'm excited to get Dragon armor.

ok, i took the time to actually kill EVERY Hydra outside of Augury Rock. It took me approximately 1 hour; yet i made 3.5k.

THIS IS THE BEST RUN I HAVE EVER DONE!!!

Just about any solo farming run is not going to yield as much profit as it did pre hard mode. Ever since they implemented loot scaling I only get about a quarter to half of what I used to get on Hydra runs. I used to net anywhere from 5-10k in one run depending on what rare mats i salvage and what items drop. Now you're lucky to get 3k out of a run.

Sad to say it but most solo farming builds are almost not worth doing anymore. With the exception of farming specific greens and things like the IDS as greens, golds and purples are exempt from loot scaling.

I would like to see some farming builds for the realm of torment. This is because the items that are worth the most are the rarest greens. They are rare because there are no solo builds to speak of that can get them so they are slower to be introduced into the economy. The most viable farming now is either solo green farming or chest running. But chest running is more of a gamble as well as a bit of a gold sink.

I need to find a new source of income soon as I need to save gold for some sweet new GW:EN gear.

I do know of a solo build you can do with an ele or sin in the relm of torment. You use the assasin skill shadow form and then jump to your enemys and relase a bunch of area ele spells. Ice spikes keeps them from running and then you glife sac nuke and use a few other area spells. It is very tricky and hard but if can work. I will see if i can dig up the template.

that actually sounds pretty awesome. It is in the realm of torment? i'm not familiar with this. What campaign and area is it in?
