Extreme Gaming Motherboard

There's something funny to be said here, but I can't quite pin it down.

Anyway, the board looks spiff. I can't help but wonder how many thousands of dollars Fatal1ty got for the endorsement?

Yeah, I've seen that. Certainly cool, but Fatal1ty endorsing things, and especially his site proclaiming again and again that he is all that and a jumbo-size bucket of hot wings, brings my respect-ometer down a few notches.

My motherboard still suits me fine. Right now I just need a better graphics card than a 9500 pro, and something besides onboard sound.

Seriously though, does this guy actually pull any weight? If he endorses something, do people listen? (I mean outside of the hardcore peeps, who run the most suped up rigs but play games with all the settings turned off)

On another note, I saw some UT2003 highlight vid a while back, and in the beginning there was an (alleged) CNN interview w/ the Fatal one. I say "alleged" 'cuz it had Fatal1ty serving over in the Iraq war. Seems to me that for a guy who had all these thousands/millions of dollars in sponsors, heading off to Iraq into real world danger would be the last thing on his mind.

Any one know anything about that? Was it legit or was it doctored up?

......

Ooop, nevermind, I just read the thread on the video over on ownage and it was just a soldier in Iraq who *looked* like Fatal1ty. Anyways, whoever the real guy was, he had some pretty questionable things to say in the vid.

Anyways, back on topic, "celebrity video game players". On one hand I'm like "yea ok, bound to happen" and I guess it brings a little legitamacy to the whole thing. But on the other, when people start comparing these guys to actual atheletes (Jordan, Gretzky)... I just shake my head. Does this guy really deserve all the hype?

Well, for one thing, the guy is CRAZY good. Seriously. Check out some of his demos off of gotfrag.com sometime. They're all insane. Does he deserve to be compared to Gretzky and Jordan? Well, I suppose the amount of dedication and labor to get as good as he is is about on par with a professional athlete. However, I don't think Gretzky or Jordan deserve their hype, and I think Fatal1ty deserves his hype even less than them. Especially because most of his is self-manufactured.

I think the whole thing is kinda sad, I mean listen to the way he talks, kindof like someone who's plays a bit too much computer.
