External Hard Drive and Tune-up Program

Hey everyone,

I would like an external hard drive to store all my music and movies and documents and pictures and yada yada yada on. I'd like something beefy (like 200+). What are your ideas?

I'm also looking for a Tune-up program... a free one. I used one awhile back, Tune up utilities (or something like that - google 'tune up') and it was great. But I'm cheap and I don't want to pay for anything. Any ideas?

Lookin' forward to your input.

I bought an internal HDD last week, a Samsung, after the company's server HDD broke down. That was the in-famous IBM Deskstar, still in production though but by Hitachi. I am not that much into what manufacturer is better than the other ones. A suggestion is to get a fast HDD, there are 10K rpm HDDs out on the market now, although I am yet to compare it with the regular 7200rpm ones.

I use Lavasoft Ad-Aware and CCleaner to clean out my computer from time to time. The latter is an excellent software, I actualy experienced an increase in speed when loading my software. Usually the performance increase is close to theroretical, thus hardly noticable.

I havent had a hitachi fail on me yet (they are the new versions tho), samsung seems ok but they are a little loud for my taste.

the best thing to do is buy a internal drive then get a external enclosure. I can list out some that seem decent.

Please don't throw it at my 'vette! I don't want to scratch the paint! It's hard to fix when it's all in your dream....

my dad has a vette and occasionally lets me drive it :P

as for external hard drives, avoid anything with a maxtor, they die, the company got bought out by seagate, and best of all, they are on discount?!?!

What kind of 'vette?

My friend's dad owns 7 Corvettes (one from each generation, and then some). He gave his son (my friend) the brand new Z06. They live on a house right across from Ben Wallace.

Who's Ben Wallace?

*Chokes and dies from disbelief*
