So [LION] has a weekly event they do called "make your own event". I'd like to do something similiar for us next weekend. (I'm afraid the weekend coming up is snowed out, so plan for the following weekend).
Here's how it works. Everyone that wants to participate (ideally 5-8 people) gathers in the GH. Each rolls the dice (/roll emote) and the high roller chooses the event. The winner can pick anything that he or she wants to do. I'd suggest something that doesn't take more than 2 hours to finish, but it's flexible.
Some ideas:
- Help achieve masters on a mission
- Vanquish an area
- HM mission
- Explore UW or FOW
- Explore or finish a quest in Sorrow's Furnace or a Dungeon.
- Do a Drok's Run
- Contest (race to complete FActions newbie island in 2 man teams)
Bad ideas:
- 4 man missions
- DOA full run (takes too long)
- GvG. (not everyone is capable and too difficult to organize)
- HA (not everyone has it unlocked)
- pre-searing
Does this sound interesting? It's meant as a fun social event. TeamSpeak is highly recommended. You don't need a mic, but if you can't even load TS, then you'll miss out on a lot of the socializing and conversation.
Ground rules:
- TS preferred
- Bring a character that ideally can go everywhere and do anything. If you don't own a campaign then let us know ahead of time and we'll just specify that the winner's selection can't be in that campaign.
- You can't leave if you don't like what's picked. If you come, come prepared to finish the event. If you don't win the dice roll, then you may end up with an event that you consider boring. Tough! I don't care if you have already done 10 infusion runs this week. The winner wants help getting his armor infused. We'll go as a group and help him fight his way to the seer and we'll have a good time doing it as a guild team.
- If you win, you can't force your team to spend money helping you. For example. You win the roll and choose UW. Fine. We'll explore the UW. Go can't say we must bring consets and you can't dictate our skillbars. You can suggest builds, but if the participants don't have those skills and don't want to buy them, you can't exclude them from the team.
- Depending on the group's makeup and the event selected, we may split into 2 teams. For example: 7 folks show up and no healers. A HM dungeon is chosen and attempting without at least 2 monks is folly. So we split into 2 teams. 4 folks on one team, 3 on the other, load up with heroes and go that way. We can still remain on TS together and socialize....and race to see which team finishes first.
- Success is never guaranteed. We'll try our best to complete the stated goal, but depending on the difficulty we may need to call it a night after a few hours.
So, who's up for it....and if any LION's are reading this, it would be nice if one of you could join us as well. You've done it before and you can lead the first week and show us how it usually works.
