Earlier raid..

I'm an EST guy, and I was mentioning in guild chat tonight that I couldn't raid tonight because of work tomorrow, I also said "hey it'd be cool if we had a raid that was a little more EST friendly..." I wasn't really expecting anything by that, but several people instantly spoke up and said they would like an earlier raid also..

I'm just curious if there's any real interest in getting an earlier raid going, and if so, is there anyone interested in leading?

I wouldn't mind helping out since I'm also an east coaster, there needs to be enough interest though since there's been discussion in the past to change to earlier or later raid times and it's stuck to what it is now. Depends on how early you're proposing.

First off, thanks for asking instead of complaining first. We've discussed this at length over the past. There are times I wish we could raid earlier. There have been nights where I've been up until 2am my time and have had to get up for work at 5am. It's even later for those of you who live on the east end.

Remember that there are just as many West coasters as there are east coasters. Don't forget about those of us who live in the central time zone as well as mountain time zone. The time that has been picked is the best we can do atm for the guild as a whole. If we start too early, many on the west coast will not be able to get home in time from work. If we start too late, those on the east coast are going to be going to bed really late or will be leaving very early. We want everyone to be able to raid with us. But please remember that we can't make a raid time fit for everyone.

There are A LOT of people in Redeemed and that means a lot of individual schedules. If we tried to tailor a raid schedule to meet everyone's needs, then there would be lots of people that didn't get to raid due to lack of availability, not to mention the extra work that Guild/raid leadership would have to put in. The time that we raid right now is, I feel, the best compromise between our west coasters and east coasters. I am sorry if you are unable to make it to redeemed raids, it's usually a really great time.

Well let me ask you this, and please tell me to back off if I'm stepping on toes or going to create a rift.. What if we started another raid schedule for some of the lower raids like ulduar, toc, maybe ony.. Our core raiders are focused on ICC as they should be, perhaps getting a "lower raid" group going at a different time might help some of our lesser geared folks get geared, and might also serve as a way to allow people a different time to start?

Again I'm just throwing this out there, I really don't want this to turn into raid cliques. I have seen other guilds where there were several raid cliques internally and you actually had to apply to be a part of a raid group.

Good questions. As Samboe said, we've always had debates about raid times and ended up at the same conclusion, that the time we have is the best due to having people in every time zone.

Currently:Our non-scheduled puggable raids are:
all pre-WotLK raids
OS 10/25
VoA 10/25
Naxx 10/25
Ulduar 10/25
Anyone can start a raid to go to any of these places and recruit for it in guild chat as long as its not during regular scheduled raid time. If your hankering to get a group going, awesome, lead and help your guildies get geared! You can even set up a regular schedule if your leading EXCEPT again, please do not plan on recruiting for these raids during normally scheduled Redeemed raid times until after the Redeemed lead raids are going. You can run them all weekends, all during day hours as much as you like, or after the scheduled raid is full. This type of member initiated raiding helps the guild, and its awesome when someone steps up to lead.

Scheduled raids are ones where our guild raiding is focused, including farm content that reliably yield dead bosses and upgrade gear and progression content that tests the guild's ability to down bosses. Guildies should not create their own runs of these raids and Veterans should not run them with PuGs or other guilds.
Our scheduled raids are currently Mon,Tue,Thur,Fri 6 server:
ToC 10/25
Ony 10/25 (this becomes puggable after Friday night of each week)
ICC 10/25

Hope that helps give you some ideas. Happy raiding, and Merry Christmas!

I dont know if this was brought up before, i am assuming it has, but what about an East Coast Raid, and a separate west coast raid? Do we have enough peeps to make a full 10 man TOC, or ICC on the east coast? I know we have plenty west coasters.

Stubbers, you are not tied to raiding with Redeemed if the guilds schedule does not fit your availability schedule. If you want to do ICC and feel your are geared for it and the guild does it when you are unable to, then lets be brutally honest here, if you want to do it, it won't be done with Redeemed.

pretty much. if you can't raid on a scheduled night...it would be downright wrong of me or anyone else to tell you that you can't run that raid with someone else. heck...i would pug it!

So ToC and ICC aren't puggable at all even after Friday the way Onyxia is?

See above. If we say on thursday/friday that monday will be 1 of 2 raids...keep those 2 raids open and do w/e else you feel like doing. I'm trying to make the whole raid scene as relaxed as practical.

I'd love to have an earlier raid time! I realize our progression raids aren't likely to change, but I think someone to organize lower level raids at an earlier time would be awesome! Pugs can be good sometimes, but I'd much rather run with my friends.

Are you interested in leading something like this? If not, maybe talk to Cryo about leading these? He's a real life friend of mine, and has some interest in leading raids. We're both in NE Ohio, so that would work out well for both of us.

However, we'd still want to be available for progression raiding at 6ST, so maybe we could have a rule that states the raid will be done for the night at that time?

right, raid schedule wise, pretty much the main thing we ask as a guild is that you simply not set up and recruit for a non-puggable raid out of our guild (hope our definition of puggable and non-puggable are clear, non-puggable is one we are currently scheduling and running together as a guild), but if your schedule is such you can't run it with us, go pug it for sure! otherwise, the more member leaders we have setting up these puggable raids, the better and you can recruit away out of our guild/guild chat for them. you can even put a puggable on the in game calendar as long as its not competing with a scheduled raid. Some of our raid leaders rose up through leading puggable raids.

if you request to become a Redeemed vet though, there is a little bit more of a commitment on raiding with Redeemed: http://www.cgalliance.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33282

Happy raiding!
