I guess EA were just willing to try something new, but it did little in terms of the fight against piracy. I think thats more of the problem than the legality of hacking up your copy of spore so you can install it on 6 machines instead of 5.

EDIT: Hopefully it wil lbe ported to the PS3/Xbox where this kinda thing wont be an issue.

the problem is..the drm doesn't stop the pirates. Spore was cracked within HOURS of it's release and the pirates are now playing issue free. The only thing drm stops is the honest folks who have to deal with the various issues it causes.

Somebody bought it honestly for somebody to crack it dishonestly. Personally on a side note, I haven't bought it and I am not sure I have any interest in doing so. As a matter of fact, after this thread, I'm positive I have no interest in picking up EA NHL09 for Xbox360, NHL08 will simply have to do for a few more years.

The game was actually cracked several days prior to public release. Chances are it was an internal leak and possibly some one on the dev team removed the DRM.
