DVD burner may be dying, looking for a replacement

My DVD burner has served me faithfully for many years and many spindles of blank DVDs. But I've burned 4 coasters today and had a similar problem with a different spindle of blank DVDs recently, which leads me to believe the burner may be dying.

So now I need to research, select, and buy a new DVD burner. I think it has to be IDE, though I'm not 100% certain. My mainboard is an EPoX EP-8KRAIPRO. I don't have any other SATA devices installed, so I'm still new to all that. (I know, I know, I'm behind the times. That's what happens when I'm unemployed for a year and a half.)

I like my LiteOn brand burner, but brand loyalty is dead and gone.

I want to be able to burn DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-RW, and DVD+DL (even if I've never burned a dual-layer DVD yet). High speeds are nice, but reliability and warranty are more important.

So what do the experts advise?

Most brands are just rebranded Lite On. They also offer decent performance so there isn't any reason not buy em.

ps...I usually get the least expensive and generally get good mileage out of it.

I also use Samsungs (one IDE and one SATA in two comps) and have never had any issues with either of them.

If you were using IDE then, IMO, theres no sense in seeing if your SATA works on your mobo since you know the IDE works well. (I had a motherboard once that had Sata on it but they didn't actually work, even after flashing the bios with the latest drivers... was a nightmare.)

Here is the IDE model I use.

Spending over $30 on a disc drive is crazy in my opinion hehe.
