Once you turn on steam cloud, It deletes all your local data and replaces it with steam cloud data. GG steam cloud.

Not sure what this means, but apparently a local character gets wiped if you go online with steam cloud (ranked) but not with gamespy online (non ranked)

Also be wary of this for those of you who pre-ordered:

What I am gathering so far is that it is probably better to play DD exclusively on Steam (at least for now), and not on Gamespy.

Gamespy LOCAL files seem to be unable to be accessed by Steam LOCAL files. Apparently, you can copy over Steam LOCAL saves into the Gamespy LOCAL save folder but not the other way around. People are losing Gamespy LOCAL saved characters it seems.
 
I saw that too, that freaked me out more than losing a toon.

is it ok to activate steam cloud and play steam online?

It would be nice if PC gamers could get a high-profile multiplatform release without crippling day one bugs.

EDIT: So is it safe to play the demo then? Because there wasn't a demo before launch (when the price was 10% off and ToJ members were looking for others to split a 4-pack) and now there is. Oh well, I guess I can at least play the PS3 version demo safely.

Patch to trendynet happened a bit ago, they sent one to steam I read, not sure if it hit yet. Supposed to be restoring characters as well on a case by case basis.

this is my main concern. I only really wanted this game so I could have another 20 hours with a portal gun.
 
well I have played under each of the options. Local, Online non-ranked, and Online ranked and have not had any bad bugs or disconnects. There are a few issues like my 360 controller not picking up push to talk each new map unless I re toggle it in the settings. And there are 360 button overlays when I am using the Keyboard/mouse that should be cleaned up.

But all in all it is FANTASTIC fun and I am in love!!

I am a huge TD fan so this is pure nectar here. My only real complaint is that matches can take a while, its not something you can pick up and play for only 10 mins, you kinda need 30-45 like a LoL match to do anything co-op
