DRAFT: Tribe of Judah Goals for 2009

I posted the following in the Tribe of Judah Staff Forum and now would like to share it with all ToJ members:

I'm hoping to post goals for 2009 on or before Dec. 1. Here's what I have so far:

• Write, post important documents (FAQ, vision statement, etc.) in easily accessible locations to help inform new and current members
• Compile, publish first monthly newsletter before Feb. 1, 2009
• Develop, maintain regular activity in Strategy Section
• Develop, maintain regular activity in Console Section
• Establish Playstation 3 chapter if sufficient interest
• Develop, maintain regular activity in Wii chapter
• Hold regular staff meetings with largest chapters and guilds represented and more than five (5) members attending
• Raise remainder of cost for dedicated server hardware before April 1, 2009
• Collect pledges for monthly donations totaling $70/mo. or more
• Provide more Bible study and ministry opportunities
• (Place greater emphasis on discipleship and outreach)
• Fill 80% (or greater) of open staff positions before Aug. 1, 2009
• Reduce number of staff positions per person to one (1) or two (2)
• Increase interaction between staff members
• Welcome, offer community for more casual gamers
• Establish formal relationships with three (3) or more other Christian gaming groups

Some goals are repeats from last year and some are new.

I agree the important documents need doing. You just have to lock yourself in a room for a week and get them done. Personally i have found it a struggle getting some things done when i go to a ref document and see "in progress" on it....lol

Aye, it's true. It's no secret that I'd rather be playing games with ToJ members or training new staff than writing another "Roles & Responsibilities" document, but it must be done.

You just have to lock yourself in a room for a week and get them done.

That may be what it takes--which is rough, since I have to dedicate most of my waking hours to the job search and other "real life" responsibilities.

It's hard to carve out 1-2 hours to sit down and type out reference documents, especially when I already spend so much time online searching for jobs. Once 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. rolls around, I just want to close the lid on my laptop and go sit in a chair that doesn't hurt my back.

Still, what must be done must be done.

Hehehe, an active strategy section...

Seems sad there quite few of RTS games compared to FPS games.

Looking at Wikipedia's list of Strategy games, for myself, I can see 2 high potential games; Halo Wars and Starcraft II.

Unfortunately, Halo Wars is X-Box 360 only and Starcraft II is TBA!

I read Starcraft II may come out Winter of 2009. Thats too long!

You can try to get it active though...

Agreed.

I hadn't thought of Halo Wars.

Dawn of War 2 may also be a big enough hit to help us rebuild the Strategy section.

If Red Alert 3, Halo Wars, and Dawn of War 2 fail to breathe new life into our Strategy section, we'll probably have to wait for the release of Starcraft II.

The expenses haven't changed. $50 a month would go toward bandwidth for our dedicated server hardware, $20 would go toward our web hosting service (this amount will likely decrease once we remove any code dependent on ColdFusion and move to a Linux-based web hosting service), and a few dollars a month would go toward our yearly domain renewal.
