I posted the following in the CGA Staff Forum and would like input from the community at large on our goals for the next year.
I'm using this thread to help write out goals for the Alliance for next year.

Feel free to post comments and suggestions. I plan to post a final draft of goals for 2009 on or before Dec. 1.
  • Add five (5) affiliates by end of 2009, three (3) by Aug. 1, 2009
  • Start "Verse of the Day" forum before Jan. 1, 2009; maintain forum through end of year
  • Increase activity on TeamSpeak server (average 10 unique users daily?)
  • Increase activity in IRC channel (average 8 unique users daily?)
  • Hold regular staff meetings with 80% (or greater) of all affiliates represented
  • Create, maintain directory of Christian guilds
  • (Investigate running servers for freeware games?)
  • Create, develop official Facebook, MySpace groups
  • (Update Wikipedia article)
  • Fill 80% (or greater) of open staff positions before Aug. 1, 2009

EDIT:

  • Compile, post staff listing on highly visible web page or forum thread
This is a great opportunity for community members to help guide the direction the Alliance takes next year.

i kind of 2nd the profit thing... >.>
the TS thing should be easy, the IRC not so muhc. fewer people are using instant msg or chat room stuff so might be more difficult to get people to idle.
I like the idea of servers for free games, but what ones? sauerbraten would be my first pick :D

Don't you have to create a game before you can play it, Atown?

True. We've had an IRC channel for a long while now and, while we sometimes have visitors, it always comes back to me, blackgravity, and Elihu hanging out and sometimes playing trivia.

There once was a day that you could stay in contact with 90% of your online friends with a multi-network chat client like Trillian or Pidgin. Now, with communication spread across social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, in-game chat clients like Xfire and Steam, forums private messaging systems, and e-mail, it's very difficult to bring a community together.

The forums are now our primary method of communication (public thread and private PMs). I remember when Yahoo! Groups were the communication medium of choice. :)

I'm not familiar with many free games, so it would be up to the community to decide on servers.

And here's a link to the Wikipedia article about Sauerbraten.
