I don't think in my reply I said anything about translation. I think he could of cured them of demons. But the fact is that lot of the people that were thought to be posessed back then were really medicaly or mentally sick. But people didn't know alot about that. So if u take it in context with the time it was writtern in u could say that it wasn't demons just some kind of medical or mental sickness.
Off Topic, I still say Mary Mag and Jesus were married, if the covanant of marriage was so important to god, y wouldn't he let his son get married. But was she really posessed by demons.???

Faith, my friend, is what allows me to over look little things that I don't understand.  I believe the Bible is the word of God and it is a inspired by God though written by man.  Can somethings be lost in translation?  When you look at the english language, its no wonder that so much is lost.  Between Hebrew and Greek, there are atleast 6 words for "love" in the Bible.  English, there is one word for love.  A lot of context was lost when it was translated.  Does that mean it is wrong?  No.  Does it mean that if you want to understand what you believe you have to put work into it?  Sure.

You say the holes are places the Bible is wrong or inconsistant. I believe the holes are things we as humans do not understand, or things translated wrong.

We are arrogant enough as a species to think that if we do not understand it, it cannot be true until it can be proven.

You can think what you want Jo, thats the good thing about free will. The difference is, I take the Bible as truth, you choose to read what people have written about Christ and about the Bible and believe that. This is one reason I tend to stay away from religious fiction such as "the divinci code" and "left behind". It muddles up truth with junk.

You are right about that...that's why we have to be careful, lest we make ourselves believe something that may be false. But it can go the other way as well.. That is why I always try to open myself up to the realm of possibility.

Agreed. I'm not saying I don't question things, I question all kinds of things, especially a lot of things we do as Christians that are not Biblical.

As for exorcism, I think its possible. Never seen it done or anything.

Genuine exorcism is a possibility, but I think a much more feasible possibility is that it's merely a combination of mental illness and the placebo effect.

The davinci code didn't change my mind about religion, I believed most of what I think before the book. Did u watch when I think it was dateline did a story about the bible and the davinci code, they disproved most of it but not all of it. I just thought it would make more sense if he was married. And the statement about demon posession and how they were not posessed has nothing to do with the bible, its just a fact about the times. Even in america during the whole witch burning days. lot of the people they burned, because they thought they were posessed by satan were just really sick.

And I don't read what other people write abouut christ and believe it, u do. Its called the Bible.
