hehe...well...I happened to notice that there are more than just Proverb and me that like disc golf...let's discuss some disc golf!

I've played in some tournaments, but I haven't played in awhile. Everyone I used to play with has moved away, and I can't seem to get anyone else into it.

Well, before kids, I played in the league here in Fargo once a week, besides at least a couple other days a week, lol. The last couple of years has been pretty light due to the courses here all being along the river and way too much water in the spring. If things dry out, I may try to get back into league play. At the height of my playing time, I had won the 'Amateur' division and then the 'Advanced' division and was ready to move up and play with the better local players in the 'Pro' division before the kids came along and zapped most of the recreational life, hehe.

I prefer Discraft discs but have been known to also throw an Innova now and then.

I am strictly Innova...I play once a week usually do the coarse once or twice...take the 1 and 4 year old sometimes, kinda difficult, but not terrible... I have been playing for 4 months or so...not all that good...I keep switching from forehand to backhand, back and forth...lol... Went to Springfield, IL and played with the guild leader of the Knights of I AM EQ2 Guild...(Proverb)... I really enjoy the game...but get frustrated sometimes because I don't feel like I am getting any better... This is also the very first sport I have ever really gotten into in my 22 years of life :) ...

I would STRONGLY recommend sticking with either Forehand or Backhand until you get good at it before working on the other. I throw the standard Backhand exclusively due to the fact that I absolutely suck at throwing Forehand. Forehand or 'sidearm' as some commonly refer to it has a more sensitive release point, but yeah it would be very beneficial to have access to both, because the put opposite spins on the disc which provides more flight path options to the pin. From my personal experience, the number one thing you can do to improve your score is practice putting. If you can put well, not only will you finish holes stronger and give yourself a more positive state of mind, putting can cut strokes off of your game quicker than anything else.

What Innova discs are you throwing?

I currently use a 175 Wraith, Cobra, and Aviar...I love them all...used to use a Valkyrie but changed to the Wraith...

I putt good for like the first 9 holes... then for some reason it goes down hill...probably from me getting tired or lazy... Before I played disc golf I threw frisbees for fun and it really helped my short game out a lot having the "experience"...

My forehand is very accurate but many times I can only put it 150 feet out there...and with my very inaccurate backhand I can put it out there a good 300 feet pretty easily...

A buddy of mine used to throw the Valkyrie all the time; I tried it a few times, but it was a bit too understable for me. I've also tried out a Wraith but didn't like the feel of the lip; it's a little bit of an overstable disc so if you're getting a nice, flat flight out of it you're doing pretty well and just need to keep throwing. If it's turning too much on you you may want to try something different; I have had some success with the Beast and Eagle from Innova in the past. The Cobra does fly pretty nice and straight, I know a couple guys that play in the league locally that still use them. I use Discraft's Buzz for my mid-range disc and to me it is the best disc ever made; I throw it on anything out to about 280 ft. I have recommended the Buzz to many people and everyone that has actually tried one has not only kept it in their bag, but picked up an extra. These throws are with the standard Backhand throw. If you throw it flat, it stays flat. If you throw it with a slight hyzer, it holds it and you have a nice slightly left curving flight. If you throw it with a slight anhyzer or right tilt, it will actually hold it and fly slightly turning right. It is the most easily to control, beautiful flying mid-range I've ever thrown.

But yeah, if you've found the putter you like, but several of them and just go to the course or set up some sort of basket the right height at home and just putt from everywhere.
