Diablo 3 is gona be awesome. Does anyone know what quarter its gona be released in? Anyways, who else besides me is VERY INTERESTED in this game?

Now, gotta say Blizz has some interesting character classes there. They all seem so... hybrid to me. Only one that really carries over from D2 is the barb. Thing is, there is no ranged non magic DPS, and the lines between DPS, support and tank seem so muddled. Nicely done. Only problem is now I'm finding it hard to choose a class :D
The only worry I have is there are rumors they are going to CUT, not increase the max number of players, further taking away from the MMO feel. Rumors of 4/5 per game, which is just stupid. I enjoy my 8 man dungeon crawls and was hoping for 16 pple.

For those less up to date on classes here are my opinions.

Barbarians are the standard tanks, though they can also be specced to deal nice melee DPS. However I think they are most suited to tanking. Don't really rely heavily on magic.

Monks are the melee DPS, pretty much same role as barb but this one relies on magic, and *speculation* maybe can't tank as well.

Deamon Hunters are the new amazons, but apparently, relies on traps as well? Think it is a assassin/amazon hybrid.

Witch Doctors are I suppose something like necromancers, but with the ability to heal.

Wizzard... here's something I can't really understand. They are supposedly an upgraded version of the sorceress, but now they emphasize more on agility and stealth? Not sure what exactly is going on.

As for me think I'm gona go Deamon Hunter. I like ranged DPS that can hold their own solo, where it's more twitch based. Unlike melee where there ain't much you can do to not die except have a high defense and hp pool. I'm used to evading fire in my javazon while shootin lightning infused stuff :D

MORE DETAILS ABOUT WHAT REALLY MATTERS - MULTIPLAYER!

As you can see, even though the max for co-op party size (and presumably game) is set at 4, speculating 5 players, from this gameplay PvP video you can clearly see 4v4 teams. Note that PvP games are different from normal PvM games so it could be ONLY PvP arena that allow more than 4 players.

Crafting is also going to be interesting. Leveling up your smithy gives you more options such as learning better recepes. The economy is going to be dominated by whoever has good blacksmiths working for them...

I'm very interested in D3, and previous to your post I didn't know the Demon Hunter existed.

In respect to the Demon Hunter, I'm not too impressed. Its abilities seem to be "borrowed" from other games too heavily - Fan of Knives... WoW Rogue anyone?... Molten Arrow - too similar to one of the Vanquisher's abilities from Torchlight. I dunno if I will play the Demon Hunter, but the other classes look awesome, especially the Witch Doctor and the Wizard.

Deamon Hunter was only recently unveiled at blizzcon. 5th and final class, should be more in expansions.

Updated first post with more details.

If the first game is any indication, then my wrists can't afford for me to play Diablo 3. Nothing personal.

(And yet I'm still considering picking up Torchlight II if my wife is interested in playing it with me.)

EDIT: Some Christians don't feel comfortable with the tone, atmosphere, and content of the Diablo games. They didn't bother me, but I didn't care much for the first game. But for those among you who don't feel convicted playing the game and it doesn't get in the way of your relationship with Christ (and can afford the $60 price tag it will likely carry), have at it and enjoy.

Don't see anything more objectionable in the diablo games than any fantasy MMO.
Rogue wizzards practicing dark magic, deamonic undead thing, forces of light of a fictitious religion fighting them back.

There are those who say practicing magic and serving a fictitious religion in a game is equal to idolatry. However if REAL LIFE religions, rituals and stuff were put in, legal lulzfest ensues, and even more people will be offended. Even for virtual worlds WITHOUT religion/spirituality, people still manage to find fault for it, like that Golden Compass. It was a dissapointment and I wish I didn't watch it, 2/5 for me, but didn't find it one bit objectionable.

Haters gona hate, keep the line between fiction and real.

//back on the game

Take a look at Caldeum. I mean a good hard look at the official concept art.

Caldium3_final.jpg

Look at the bridge. I don't know just how many buildings will be enterable in d3, but it looks like you will be able to walk UNDER it as well. Could it be possible that diablo 3 will support things going over each other?

Caldeum_blueprint.jpg

This is the blueprint. It clearly shows the main courseway over the lower marketplace. If we can actually GO TO the lower marketplace, it will be awesome.

Doesn't andy look a lot like kerrigan?

Also...
CALDEUM IS MADE OF WIN!!! Wish I could use that official page background as my wallpaper.
Hoping to see more balanced, less overpowered items and more gritty intense action. Probably have to wait till 2011 or 2012 though.

Only MAJOR dissapointment is the 4 player per game limit, which is way too little to interact with. Large sprawling cities the size of Stormwind, and not a single soul to interact with. Smooth. I don't know, but maybe they are trying to save WoW. The fact is RPGs are what most gamers dump the majority of their time in, and I intend to either play D3 OR a traditional MMORPG fulltime. By keeping d3 as an action rpg and not a MMO... could it be they are trying to stop too many people treating D3 like an MMO? They gotta reduce the limit to 2 to prevent me from doing that :L

Played D2 solo not on line. Tried again after doing GW, the constant click to move got confusing. If I can play it non-mmo I may try it.

Meh. I miss the Paladins.

Though, Monk is not a Paladin.

So, I can only pick the Barbarian since I prefer Shields and Swords.

They just announced it won't be in 2011. :(

NOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
sauce pl0x?

http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/analyst-says-diablo-3-in-2011/

Lazard Capital has predicted mid-late 2011.
However wouldn't be too surprised, they said beta starts in 2011, so I personally think a late 2011 or early 2012 release...
Lets face it, we KNOW starcraft 2's expansion is coming in 2012.
During a Question & Answers panel at BlizzCon Chris Sigaty, who is the lead developer working on Starcraft 2, has said that the launch date will probably only come after 2011 is done but also said that in the meantime fans of the series can look forward to getting more content for the game, although its not clear what it will consist of.
Therefore, it seems unlikely they are going to clash with it by releasing d3 in 2012.
Blizz tends to release games roughly 3 years after announcement, give or take a few months. Therefore as it was announced in late 2008, many expect a late 2011 release. So assuming beta starts early 2011, it's likely. however if beta starts mid-late 2011, then it's prolly gona be 2012.

On the classes...
Funny how all the classes kinnda got hybridized. I just want my plain non magic DPS back... and they put in the deamon hunter... guess everyone's gona use mana now.
