Designing a game...

One of the more popualar 3d engines: www.ogre3d.org might be a good place to start. Note that it is just a graphical framework and you would need to implement the physics, AI and most of the other programming aspects, but it takes care of one of the hardest aspects.

wow another program to learn... how fun.
it took me three days to learn how to make a piano keyboard from scratch in 10 minutes, lol.

I took a few pictures of it but I'll show you the best three:
My first 11 keys (bad lighting makes it dark and lacking of shadows, also it was a render preview instead of the real thing, so the quality is lower.)
The whole thing (it's so huge!!!)
Cut down version (This was render previewed as well...)

Here's a 3D scene somebody else made that i love:

Okay Vibro I have OGRE but now that I'm looking at some of the basics...
I HAVE TO LEARN C++.
That means half of the only programming language I know just flew out the window, lol.

the only reason to use java is to make something portable...which isn't very beneficial and properly designed C/C++/C#/Python/Ruby. Also C++ isn't bad, I like the syntax alot as it is more compact and less wordy...

You could develop the game on Python which is really easy and doesn't require compiling to run (but can be compiled if needed). But the syntax is very similar to C still lol.

You could look at C#, it is similar to java but differen't. You can wrap c++ libraries to get them into python and c# so it is a matter of choosing what works.

uhm yeah well how about you deal with the programming since you're Mr. C++/C#/Python?

Can you teach me how to animate my piano to the music I'm playing with Python? lol

I don't have the time. I currently get about 2-3 hours of free time a day after resting from work and most of that goes to hanging out with friends, not staring at an editor.

>.> woe unto me!

lol if nobody has noticed (it's hard to tell) i accidently cut off the tops of the tips of the keys on my piano x_x
I'll have to find a way to replace all those faces >.>

na, give me a level editor and im crazy good at it. I use to make levels for a multiyplayer game. Is it possible to convert a level from an editor to another game via transfer or something? Change the files thru something or other...?

probaly not, just asking tho

not really...

oh and i fixed the piano, lol
I'm working on making a scene with a dark castle room including a table with a candle, a sword against the wall, stone walls, and tons of shadows...
hopefully I'll think of something else to add :p
So far I have the candle and it's little candle holder (i somehow managed to forget what that's called o.0)
It took me a LONG time to shape the wick, the fire, and the wax that trickled down the side of it :p

i really enjoy taking pre-made stuff and ramping up the graphics, sound, etc...i uh..."edited" some freeware known as Marathon...now it's like Halo graphics (ironic, no? they're both from Bungie)if you want something lese to add, try making some book sitting open near the candle
