Dawn of War II: Retribution

Next expac: We gets to play the campaign as the Orks! (and other, lesser races)

Taken from Here
Taking place years after the events in Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising, this title allows players to choose their perspective with the first multiple-race single player campaign in the Dawn of War II series. The first race to be revealed is the savage Orks, but no matter which race is chosen players will be taken on an epic journey through each story arc, revealing the answers to many questions left open in previous Dawn of War titles.

I wonder what the new race will be... My bet is on IG, but I would love to have my Tau back.

The I in the word Retribution is the icon for representing the Inquisition. My guess is that the Inquisition will be involved in this expansion. Will they have their own faction? Or will they put the Imperial Guard to work for them?

I would really love to have Tau be the next race, unfortunately it probably won't happen. Still, really excited about this.

I have this sneaking suspicion that I'm going to absolutely love this expansion. A full on hilarious, violent, and Orky campaign can hardly go wrong.

Here is Eurogamer's interview with THQ's VP, Danny Bilson, on their upcoming games. A lot of Warhammer 40K talk (Space Marine, Dawn of War II, and the MMO), but there is one part in particular that addresses when they will start on Dawn of War III:

article said:
Eurogamer: When are we going to see Dawn of War III?

Danny Bilson: Retribution's going to ship in February, and then we start laying out Dawn of War III. You can probably expect it between 18 months and two years after that.

It may be a more digital free-to-play experience with all the depth and quality of a Relic RTS.

Company of Heroes Online is another thing we're showing at gamescom, because we're going to be bringing that to North America and Europe very soon in the fall.

We're taking company of Heroes, and we've added all kinds of things to it. It's now going to be launched as a free-to-play micro-transaction, where you don't have to buy anything. It's just time versus investment.

You can play the heck out of it and unlock and earn certain things. But at the same time, we'll be selling little pieces. Little bits of the game to enhance your game online. Leaderboards, you can have an avatar and a screen that shows how you're doing in the game.

We've invested years in bringing this to free-to-play, and a lot of money to make it a cool free-to-play. I haven't seen everything in the world, but it has to be the biggest budget, biggest blockbuster free-to-play game that's gone that way yet. It's coming this fall, and I think winter in Europe.

Eurogamer: So Dawn of War III may be like Company of Heroes Online, then?

Danny Bilson: Could be. It all depends on how COHO does, and how it works and how people respond to it. If they do that would definitely drive us to... Now Dawn of War III, either way, is going to have a much larger strategic component to it, more of a global battle going on with little tactical things, sort of MMO-like.

I'm just giving you a lot of preview. We haven't announced anything about it, and it's still in its early formative stage, but I'm just talking to you about the brainstorming going on around it. I'm excited about it. I'm a big fan of that, obviously.

Sounds like Retribution will be the last expansion for Dawn of War II, which is fine with me if they go straight to working on Dawn of War III.

Have you tried Last Stand mode? We still play that every week, it's rather enjoyable. :D

This interview has made me drool...

I'm a huge fan of WH40k. Anything that can suit me up as a Space Marine, especially Ultramarines or Black Templar, gets me anxious to play.

While not wholly fitting the discussion at hand, I just picked up Dawn of War II offa the clearance rack at Target. Installing now. I fell in love with the demo, and I can't wait to play the real deal... for real... really.

I don't see a Dawn of War chapter of ToJ, so what's the best way to connect with other WH40k peepz?

So hype right now. So hype... I'm even gonna read the manual while it installs. O.o

Play as the Walkers even. D:

I still want a Warp Spider hero. >_>

And the lava levels look great in motion. xD
