It's a pretty fun RTS, more about squads than massive bases and micro-ing your gatherer units. It's "slower" some, but it's still action packed, has explosions, blood, and fanatical people with chainsaw swords, which I guess is a nice mix. There's a demo on Steam to see if you can run it. And there's a huge balance patch and UI update bringing a lot of goodies. Single-player is an Action-RPG of sorts, Multiplayer is tactical fun, and to me, it always feels like a fair fight.

slower? just try playing a match of DoW II then moving back to SC. It's like going from a 75mph zone to a 25mph zone.

Either that or my play style is simply too frantic. Dunno.

But yes, people should at least try the demo, it is an amazing game about to be made even better with the massive update coming out. And the map editor is pretty sweet. I have *got* to find a way to get my network admin to unblock the GFWL servers so I can play online again...

Actually, this is a 50% off sale on all Dawn of War games and Relic's other big franchise the Company of Heroes series.

The timing is to match the official release of the mega-patch today called "There is Only War" for Dawn of War II, which dramatically changed how multiplayer plays, adds a lot of maps, a map creator, new observer/referee mode in multiplayer, and a revamped replay viewing system.

Highly recommended.

The game has an annoying page file check which you need to add a command line option (-disablepagefilecheck) to bypass. Mind you I have my page file disabled for a reason, mostly because I have 6GB of ram free most of the time...
