Cult vs. Religion

Miriam Webster says that a cult is "a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious" and says that religion is "the service and worship of God or the supernatural; a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith"

So my answer would have to be, there isn't much difference without a proper belief in and right relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.
 
basically. Being a christian is more about your personal relationship with Christ and your christian walk and/or lifestyle
 
I'll elaborate on my question.

If I am talking with someone and they ask about Mormanism, I would say, "Mormanism is a cult, just like Jehovahs Witnesses or Scientology." What is it about these groups that label them as cults, whereas Christianity, Islam, Hindu, Budhism, and a bunch of others are labeled as religions?
 
i think the basis for that argument is that the others are recognised as religions mostly because of their history. Mormonism is a semi new cult in contrast to like shinto or other azn cults that have been around for a couple hundred years.
 
no a culture is a collectivist society in which what is there is learned and not innate and show us how to operate within society.

a cult is a faith based system
