CPU Cooler Question (mounting bracket)

So I've found that I need to replace my cooler. Question is, do I need to replace the mounting bracket and/or back plate for it on my motherboard. This is the cooler I'm getting, and I'm currently using the stock cooler that came with my processor (AMD Phenom x4 965t 3.5 ghz Quad Core). I figure I could replace the mounting, but keep the backplate...or should I replace both.

Umm? If you're just replacing the fan, you can just replace the fan. But if you're getting a new fan/heatsink combo it comes with the back-plate.

I'm replacing the entire deal. Just looking to know if I have to ditch the backplate it came with when I install the new cooling unit, or can I just reuse it.

If it's an aftermarket one it will come with a new back plate. Just unscrew the old one and replace it with the new one.

Replace it lol. :)

If the aftermarket cooler came with a back plate, then use the aftermarket back plate.
