What do you guys think of the costume concept released by GW last night? My wife and i saw it and got a set for each of us. I really like it being an Ele. My outfits were kind of lame and the Grenth one looks really cool.

Could this be a feature that we will see more of? Either in GW1 or GW2? Personally I really hope so. this way if I love a profession but hate the armor I don't have to try and mod it myself. I'm not so sure about it being a pay only option though. Maybe a really hard quest line with a pay option would be cool that way players without the cash(or the desire to spend it) can still spend time and get it.

p.s. can you imagine next Halloween?!?!...wonder why they didn't release these sooner?

This.

10 bucks for something that holds no practicality (I can see storage/character slots) is not something I'm into. Besides, I'd never use them aside from "hey look what I have! :D" because I like my armor more than these costumes. its a good idea for Anet to get more money, I've seen quite a few people running around in them, but its not for me. GG Anet, but no thank you.

I like that they are going this route. The last thing I want is to pay for say, weapons and armor types or anything that will get you a competitive advantage that can't be achieved in-game. Cosmetic changes are great, because if i don't like it, I don't feel obligated in any way to buy them.

Actually, I think $10 for something that has no effect on gameplay is quite a good way to operate. Those who want it buy it, and those who don't buy it aren't at a disadvantage gameplay-wise.

I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to get a costume. However, I'm for anything that helps support Anet while they develop GW2.

I wouldn't mind having the Dwayna costume. I'll have to see if I have any money after christmas and eve payment. :o

I think it's a great idea on A-net's part. They need to generate income and this seems to be a good way to do it. I've already seen a lot of characters in town in these costumes so it's sounds like it was successful.

Personally, I won't be buying them. I don't want to spend the money on a costume when I'm perfectly happy with my armor choices, but as long as A-net is offering items for sale that have no ingame advantage, I have no problems with it.

Now if they start selling:
Elite Battlechar Swords
Slashing Dmg: 25-35 (Req 9 Swordsmanship)
Inscription: None
Health +45

....in the ingame store for $10 a pop then I have issues.

Hey, I agree with the above. I think it's cool that Anet isn't selling game-changing gear.

That said, I got the costumes and have been pretty happy with them. I was so happy for my warrior and necro to have "fancy clothes" to wear that weren't all armor-y. Felt like I was sending them off to the prom.

Yeah, it was kind of a splurge... but Anet's been pretty easy on my wallet the last three or four years. I feel like we're cool with livin' it up a little for the holidays.

I was kinda hoping that instead of hats this year at wintersday, they would hand out Santa Suits for the costume slot.
