ok each time i try n access my mydocuments, explorer.exe crashes and it doesnt matter how i access it, with x-fire, double clicking, gmail upload etc. i can however use dos commands to get into it but that doesnt help me much..... i installed wmp11 and divx other night but i rolled everything back cuz i thought that might be a proplem but still to no avail.... ideas?

Sounds like one of your system files is corrupted. Try installing a service pack. If that does work, I know of a couple more things to try.

right click on your my computer icon and go down to properties.....

are there Service packes installed?

It will say "System:
Microsoft windows XP
......
version 2002
(service pack info---if blank, you don't have one installed)
"

You can install a service pack via Windows Update or Microsoft.com/downloads. It will walk you through the process, so nothing too evil outside of the normal Microsoft stigma. :)

i already have sp2 though, and i just reinstalled it and it didt fix it.

first set your machine to show hidden files. Next via the dos shell go delete all *.ini files in your my documents and all subfolders. Reboot..that should take care of you. If that doesn't then backup your stuff and reload.

wish i had known that, i already reinstalled windows n stuff..... but it doesnt make sense, after i backed up my documents, even on a diff hd it didt work, then i reinstalled and it worked then

i think i found my proplem, i installed openoffice, did to much, made it crash, and now i cant open my documents again -_- i uninstalled it but still crashes, i know theres somethin im suppose to do with file association i think might fix the proplem.... anyone remember how to change those? system restore didt do much of anything either
