Redeemed,
We're (at last) moving to the next step of the co-GL election process. We have more great nominees than ever in one of our elections, and it took Cgamer and I quite awhile to talk to everyone. After much prayer and discussion, the following are the slate of candidates
Cassadine
Cryogenic
Mattiah
Shagz
Sheckle
Obviously, not everyone who was nominated is on the list. There were many discussions with many people that led to this list, and the final list of candidates was determined solely by Cgamer and myself in consultation with the nominees. While some nominees withdrew from consideration early on, this election we still we had an extraordinary number of willing and able nominees for the position. Some of the nominees that aren't on the the candidate slate above are some of the strongest and most loyal contributors to the guild, and people we very much consider to be our friends. We want to emphasize that we did not use "screening out based on requirements" to cull the list. We used our judgement and prayer on what was best for the the needs and future of the guild right now to guide us, and that the decisions were ultimately just made by the two of us. There were some very tough decisions and we hope you trust that we did our best to do the right thing for the guild, and that nothing was done capriciously.
After unscientifically polling the candidates, we also made the decision to have this election be for one vacant co-GL spot. While some nominees felt that we should elect 2 co-GLs currently (which is certainly the democratic approach), others felt that leadership continuity and having a majority of "non-green" co-GLs would be valuable. There was not unanimity or consensus, so Cgamer and I just made a judgement call to have me stick in the position for a few more months. There will be another election in January and I will rotate out at that point, then another election in May when Cgamer rotates out.
With all that, here's the process from here on out:
1) The nominees should post, in this thread, a (brief) statement on why they feel they should be co-GL and what they'd like to accompish if elected. Any other posts in this thread will be deleted.
2) Once you've decided who your preferred candidate is, send an in-game mail to Redballot with that name in it. One vote per member (not per toon, not per account) ... messing around with this invalidates all your votes.
3) We'll let the election run for a full week, then close the voting at noon Monday 10/5 and if all goes well, announce the results that evening.
4) The new elected co-GL will serve a 12-month term, through September 2010, and rotate out via a new election at that point.
Thanks for trudging their this lengthy post and thank you for your patience and understanding throughout the election process ... and feel free to ask me or Cgamer if you have any questions. We might not always have answers but we will do our best to listen and address your concerns.
