Redeemed,

We're (at last) moving to the next step of the co-GL election process. We have more great nominees than ever in one of our elections, and it took Cgamer and I quite awhile to talk to everyone. After much prayer and discussion, the following are the slate of candidates

Cassadine
Cryogenic
Mattiah
Shagz
Sheckle

Obviously, not everyone who was nominated is on the list. There were many discussions with many people that led to this list, and the final list of candidates was determined solely by Cgamer and myself in consultation with the nominees. While some nominees withdrew from consideration early on, this election we still we had an extraordinary number of willing and able nominees for the position. Some of the nominees that aren't on the the candidate slate above are some of the strongest and most loyal contributors to the guild, and people we very much consider to be our friends. We want to emphasize that we did not use "screening out based on requirements" to cull the list. We used our judgement and prayer on what was best for the the needs and future of the guild right now to guide us, and that the decisions were ultimately just made by the two of us. There were some very tough decisions and we hope you trust that we did our best to do the right thing for the guild, and that nothing was done capriciously.

After unscientifically polling the candidates, we also made the decision to have this election be for one vacant co-GL spot. While some nominees felt that we should elect 2 co-GLs currently (which is certainly the democratic approach), others felt that leadership continuity and having a majority of "non-green" co-GLs would be valuable. There was not unanimity or consensus, so Cgamer and I just made a judgement call to have me stick in the position for a few more months. There will be another election in January and I will rotate out at that point, then another election in May when Cgamer rotates out.

With all that, here's the process from here on out:
1) The nominees should post, in this thread, a (brief) statement on why they feel they should be co-GL and what they'd like to accompish if elected. Any other posts in this thread will be deleted.
2) Once you've decided who your preferred candidate is, send an in-game mail to Redballot with that name in it. One vote per member (not per toon, not per account) ... messing around with this invalidates all your votes.
3) We'll let the election run for a full week, then close the voting at noon Monday 10/5 and if all goes well, announce the results that evening.
4) The new elected co-GL will serve a 12-month term, through September 2010, and rotate out via a new election at that point.

Thanks for trudging their this lengthy post and thank you for your patience and understanding throughout the election process ... and feel free to ask me or Cgamer if you have any questions. We might not always have answers but we will do our best to listen and address your concerns.

First let me say, there are some amazing people running for Co-GL! I'm honored to be considered on the same line as they are, and any of them would make great GL's.

You should not vote for me if you like things to be comfortable. My hope for Redeemed is that we're continually becoming better, both as a guild and the people in it. I would LOVE to see us take down Arthas, but also be just as excited to see some one overcome an addiction (even to WoW), or accept Christ because of Redeemed.

With Cataclysm on its way, any time an X-pack is released there's a lot that needs to go into making the transition to the new content. It would be nice to have some docs prepared for people with leveling suggestions, info about dungeons, as well as times to explore all the new content together. I would love to be a big part of making the jump to lvl 85 as fun and exciting as possible.

Also the communication and expectations of roles of officers. All the officers do an awesome job, and are a huge part of the guild. I would want to be sure that if anyone has a specific need, that they know which officer they can go to, and that everyone understands what is expected of them. The more people know, the less confusion & frustration will happen.

I'm a "tough love" kind of guy when I need to be. And being Christians together means sometimes those difficult conversations are going to need to happen. No one has to be a "good little Christian" to joined Redeemed, we're all messed up. But we're not supposed to stay that way. Along with strengthening the relationships that have been built here, I think this is high priority for this next year.

Some ideas that might help with that....I'd like to see 2 nights dedicated to keeping clear of raiding. One for the Bible Study we already have. And one for a time if anybody just wants to talk/get encouraged/be prayed for/etc. and they know that there is a place they can do that. I'd also like to see more interaction from Class Leaders to new members. Not only answering Class related questions, but getting to know who they are.

If you hate reading wall of texts, just skip to here.

1. Lots of changes, people become better, feeding McFierce's obsession with end game.

2. Cataclysm transition, clear officer roles, more Gilga docs!!!

3. Jesus rocks!

To my fellow guildies:
First of all I appreciate the opportunity given to me to be able to possibly serve you guys! I’ve been a part of this guild for a while now and I feel I have a good grasp on what it’s about and where it should be headed. I love you all and as we continue in new and old friendships I pray that Redeemed will always be around to be able to worship freely and have fun together!
As far as wanting to be a co-guild leader, I have prayed about it and feel it would be a good opportunity to help out. I feel I have a good understanding of the guild and the people in it, and I know the goals Redeemed has in mind when it comes to focusing on God in every aspect that we do. I will be honest and say I am extremely strong-willed and will stand up for what I believe is right if anything seems to be amiss. I feel I would be good at communicating guild concerns to the other leaders and getting with them to fix issues or arrange events. If something needs to be done, I will do my best to see it through. I’d like to help be there for people if they have questions or concerns with anything having to do with real life or the game, as well as be a constant encouraging figure to make sure that we’re in the guild to have fun, worship God, and reflect Him in all that we do.
Being an officer before, I was able to help mainly with people joining our Redeemed family and getting them excited to be with us as well as helping them get started and I’d love to do that again. Just to give you an idea of what I’d like to focus on…
1. Raiding has been going great and I’d love to help get the bank in full swing to help towards that. We have a lot of giving people in the guild and sometimes I feel we lack motivation to do our part in helping the whole. I have some ideas on how to get that moving :)

2. I really would love to strive to get rid of the “It’s just a game” attitude and have us all grow together more as a family in Christ. I’ve come to develop some really fun friendships that are still continuing to grow. I think if people got to know each other better we would all have more fun and eliminate some of the ‘mememe’ that the game promotes. (Granted you bought the game to play and not to sacrifice to others so Im not going to that extreme…I just want us to fall away from the more selfish impulses the game tends to create at times.)

3. This goes along more with 2. But I’d like to be more inclusive…and I by no means mean that in a raiding sense. I mean as a guild I want us to interact more and do random fun things at times…whether that’s running a lowbie instance in your b-day suit with a lowbie member or just having heroic runs, offering up your skills to help out leveling members…etc. Anything that would get us all talking and getting to know each other as people.

I could go on but I’d really love to focus on the more fine tuning when it comes to the guild :) I believe we’re on the right track with raiding and I understand it is a big part of the game and Redeemed but it is not the focus. God is the focus and we are the people in this guild..not just some pixilated character running around on the screen.
Thank you again guys for this opportunity ! I pray ya’ll take the time to seriously consider those you wish to be in leadership, sincerely read what they have to offer, and choose who you feel will lead this guild the way God would want it. There are a good many amazing people who I feel would be awesome for the position, so I have no doubt whoever is chosen will be a great candidate for the spot! *Big hug*

Thank you! /crit

Howdy, Ya'll.

Redeemed,
I want to thank you for the opportunity to participate in the co-Guild Leader election process. I do not take this nomination lightly and am honored to be considered in this manner. This nomination happened for a reason, so I will put my best foot forward. That being said, I would like explain the qualifications that I would bring to the ministry position.

I have been saved for 12 years now. God’s calling on my life is just like yours. He called us all to share his gospel with anyone that will listen. Currently, I teach high school youth group (Bible study) for my church and have been doing so, by the grace of God, for over 5 years now. I am no stranger to receiving correction, as well as suggesting correction with fellow brothers and sisters. I believe you need to be humble in ministry to keep your focus on God’s will. I also have the privilege of playing Djembe and hand percussion with our Praise and Worship team and monitoring the check-in desk for our little ones on Sunday morning.

All these things I could not continue to do without Jesus and the Holy Spirit by my side. That is why all guild related tasks MUST be done by prayer and petition and seeking wise council.

If called to this position, I would like to see more focus shown on helping our new members (and possibly new to WoW) enjoy all aspects of the game to include the running of lower level instances. This would promote fellowship amongst the newer members and help train those that wish to raid at a later time. I’m not talking about running people through instances; I’m talking actually fulfilling a role in a 5-man group. You miss so much of the content by taking the easy way through the game.

I would also like to see more fellowship events that aren’t Raid related. Anyone that has raided, or listened in on vent, knows that raiding has a business-like feel to it. That is to assure the success of the guild in end-game content. You have to be serious and concentrate on your role in a raid to be successful. But, we need to let our hair down as well and establish an event committee that would help us all get to know each other outside the raid grind. Fellowship with the saints was very important to Jesus and He needs to be our focus here, not raiding 24/7.

That also leads me to talk about ministry opportunities. I would like to put an Evangelistic ministry team together to come up with ideas to share Jesus with people (within Blizzard established boundaries) on our server. Jesus tells us to minister to the saved and unsaved alike. It is quite possible that we have a few unsaved people in our membership, but we need reach the others not in our fold.

Now that I’ve rambled on way to long, I would like to ask you to pray before you cast your vote and choose the individual that would best fit the direction God would want this guild to take.

May the Lord, Jesus Christ, bless you and keep you safe and watch over these proceedings, Amen.

Matt

Hello to my fellow guildies. I would like to say a quick thanks to all for nominating me and the encouragement I have received throughout the process.

I have been a Redeemed member for many years and after much consideration and prayer, I have decided to run for Co-GL. I have had the opportunity to meet many people through the years and be involved in the ups and downs of the guild as a whole. I have come to know so many of you that it's such a great place to be and I would like to continue to help Redeemed move forward and progress in all aspects of the game.

I feel there are a few important things that I can do to help with improvement to all aspects of the guild as a whole. As everyone knows, I love to raid. I will continue to help and support the raiding aspect of the game including our raid leaders and believe that Redeemed can accomplish things in this game that others do also. I would like to see more raid leaders step up to help out with raiding other dungeons also to help lesser geared people catch up so to speak and come to the end game raid with the guild. This includes leaders and officers helping keep the guild bank organized and knowing what's in there that one of thier guildies might need.

I believe we need to have knowledeable and helpful Class Leaders like we do now but expand thier roles to get them more involved with all the people at all levels of thier class in the guild. This includes getting to know new people and lower levels a little more to helping people at raid level with thier spec, rotations and gear to improve performance. I would also like class leaders to run 5mans with people of thier class to see how they perform and give some pointers to help them advance further. I want the members to feel like they can ask thier Class Leaders (and Officers) any questions at any time.

I would like to have some people in place to help with other activities in guild to accomodate the needs of the many or the few. Such as leaders to run achievement groups, PVP groups, farming groups, or even special event groups to help with quests and such (Brewfest, Octoberfest, etc.) This includes people willing to help organize these groups at lower levels sometimes on thier alts to bring the lower level guildies and newer guildies along so they can experience the entire game content. It's not easy getting groups for dungeons as you level up nowadays especially below 70.

We have a big guild with many people wanting different things out of the game. I believe we need to help with promoting the idea of people getting involved and helping others out when they can in all aspects of the game. I would like to see people getting to know each other more by interacting with them in groups and such. I would like to see people respond to others in guild chat when people log in and say "hi" or people call for help because they are being camped by horde or even if they just need help with a group quest.

These are a few of the things but not limited to all that I believe we can improve upon in the guild as a whole. If I become Guild Leader, these are a few of the things I will try to implement or improve. Thank you all again for considering me for this important position. God Bless.

Always know where your towel is

First off let me say that I love Redeemed. In fact this guild is the only reason I am on this server at all. It's an honor to be up for Co-Guild lead with others I respect. Now down to business.

I know it has been rough at times in Redeemed this past year and things have more than once made some of us say, "Wait, what?" but I still believe that we are the best guild all around to be in.

Redeemed is a great community but I would like to see us get stronger. I would like to see us become more familiar with each other and really hold each other up as we are called to do. One of the things I would like to happen is a more consistent Bible Study time over vent. I know this is a big responsibility for one person so I would like to propose a possible rotation for it so we get different perspectives and its not always on one or two people's shoulders.

Another thing I would like to see and would work for is for our guild to have a bigger impact on our server. I remember seeing a SS that Goblit has of someone in trade chat saying that Redeemed has been a positive influence on their perspective of Jesus and I thought it was awesome. I would like us to one day a month take some time and go make some noise on our server, so to speak. Lowbie instance runs, help killing group quests, help leveling professions, free mage food even haha, anything that will make others on our server notice that we are not only a Christian guild in name, but also in action. I'm not saying we break the rules that Blizz has set about religion but you can convey the message of Christ without ever saying His name. I would also like to see more "gear your guildies" events and attitude from all of us within the guild.

In closing I would just like to say, "Yes we can!" HAHA sorry I couldnt resist. I think I just lost Cit's vote tho :D. Thank you all for reading this, God Bless.
