Officer SOE/LoE/Where's "here"?
Post subject: Letter to Schiz Spell Slinger

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My dear Cousin,
I know you are busy fighting in Kourna, but I'm sure this will catch up to you at the Sanctuary. It seems I have gained a title you can never hope to, that of Survivor. Even if I lose it later, I have finally gained something that you haven't first. I have managed to finish all of the quests, and requests except for one, the same one you can't even do. I even managed to get rid of those troublesome flamingos, when you gave up in frustration. You continue to die in your quest to serve Elona, Istan, and the Sunspears, yes you are making great advances, but you are as impetueus as ever. I can't believe we even got those drunken Schaubes home in one piece without a single loss. The clan is throwing a small celebration, and we wish you could be here. There is even talk of making me a permanent trainer of our Sunspear cadets. I know your time is short and you have much to do. Remember, "For Biscuits for Honor".

Dear Cousin,
First congratulations on survivor title. I have no doubt this will find you easily in some cozy spot, safe and sound, with a plate of your namesake. Survivor could not have been easy, knowing when to run from battle. And I'm sure much of what you learned from my experiences helped in the rare times when you did fight. Herding flamingos must have been easy experience points for you, certainly up to your skill for avoiding combat. I can't imagine what you could teach a real Sunspear Cadet, unless it was judicial avoidance of combat. And if you show up here and insult me again, I will thrash you as a light, pre-breakfast workout. Impetuous? More like willing to take the fight to the enemy, something you wouldn't know about. Enjoy the celebration, especially considering if you were here there is a certain Sunspear General who would give you what you really deserve, a spanking, and a real mission.
Your Disgusted Cousin,
Schiz Spell Slinger

Angel, Christoph
Angel, your sister Betta let me know how you two have been hammering at each other. As if we don't have enough troubles in Elona without you two acting like spoiled children. Especially you Angel, being a Sunspear General you should know at least the basics of civilized interaction with others, not to mention those of your clan. You accused your cousin of all but cowardice. Even that quest of the flamingos was not easy, it was there that he gained his first Elite spell, and obtained the title of Survivor. And for your information, Christoph is trying to turn down the teaching post so he can get to where there is more "action". Maybe I should let you both fight, then under clan law I could ostracize you both. Christoph you are not spotless in this either. Your rank of Sunspear Commander places you in a place of service under Angel, and thus she is due your respect. You both have been lax in honor due Clan Erse, choosing Battle cries designed to tease and antagonize each other. "For Honor...For Death", "For Honor.....For Biscuits"? And further news and reason for you, Angel, to be more civil, is that Betta and Cristoph are becoming more than a little in love with each other. And under Clan law, being as they are second cousins, a marriage would be acceptable. So both of you show some respect for each other and act like you are members of a proud and old Clan, Clan Erse. And remember you are both members of the same Guild, with the name "Friends" in it.
To those involved,
For Honor......For Elona
For Honor......For Death
For Honor......For Biscuits

Dear Sis,
I'm sorry but I had to tell the Clan Leader about your feud with Cristoph. You are so hard on him, and all he wants is to be as famous as you, but on his on name. Yes, he can be hard to deal with, but that is because he is compared to his older cousin so often. He is so good at raising havoc on the battlefield while using his talent to survive. And he does get hurt all the time, he has come in from a mission or quest just exhausted, and battered so badly you wonder how he survived again. You said some really mean things about his chance for training new recruits, but he would be so good at it, and better yet I could quit worrying about him. All he talks about though is moving the battle to the enemies territory, and that if we really pressured them this would all be over sooner. Please, as a favor to me, try to see what he really is doing, and his value as a Sunspear officer. He has surpassed me, and I have learned much from his actions in the field. Also I make no apology, I dearly love him, and if he wasn't so focused on the conflict at hand, I would marry him today. But that is another letter and subject.
Always your loving sister,
Bette,
Shadow Nun
For Honor......For Elona

For those of you who have been on line lately you will have found to your surprise that Ursina has a daughter, May Ursinasdottir. And if you want to get pinned to a tree with an arrow just call her illegitimate. During the chaos of Charr stricken Ascalon a very young Ursina met a young ranger from the Shiverpeaks. They married in Old Ascalon and their honeymoon was spent fighting enemies in and around Old Ascalon. Clan Erse eventually fled with Prince Rurik, and during the long grueling trip through the Shiverpeaks it became evident Ursina was with child. While in dwarven lands they stayed briefly with an old dwarven healer named Ydun, who also happened to be a seer. I was with them discussing the clan future when the Ydun, the healer, told him, "Young Bernt you will never leave these mountains again, here you will sleep forever." "Yet Ursina will bear you a strong daughter, one who will carry on family honor within clan Erse, and be a pride and comfort to her mother for years to come." Bernt sat thoughtful for a time then looked at his lovely mate, "If this is so Ursina, name her May Ursinasdottir, May for the mother and mother-in-law of our clan leader, Ursinasdottur so people will always know of her mother and her mother's legacy." With tears in her eyes Ursina agreed, and Ydun then pronounced a blessing on the three of them. Only a few days later Bernt was buried in an enemy created avalanche. The clan historian has records of the flight to Lions Arch, but you will find a time when Ursina is not mentioned until later in Elona. During this time she lived in Elona, taken in by an elderly childless couple who helped her raise May in her early years. Grandpapa Chidi had been a ranger in the sunspears, rising to the rank of Commander in years of relative peace, he had been married to Grandmama Amaka very young, and the long childless years had been painful, so the chance to have a child in the house was welcomed with great joy. Most of the story of those years is know only by Ursen. Eventually her duties as a Sunspear called Ursina away more and more often, yet she always came back to May, and taught her, and loved her. Grandpapa Chidi taught her all he could about being a ranger, sunspear, and how to live to honor her mother and father. Grandmama Amaka taught her how to be feminine, but never weak, and how to love the world. Both of them taught what they could of clan Erse, and how to be loyal to family, while being open to the value of others. Recently during a visit by Ursina they both appealed to me for full acknowledgment as a fighting member, a ranger same as her mother. And I agreed, how could I refuse? I found out she had been keeping some her mothers spare armour, dreaming of places far away, and noble battles to be won. So she has made her debut in Elona where Grandpapa Chidi can help and encourage, also stand with her in her start as a Sunspear. All of her cousins are very proud of her, even if she did name her first pet, a flamingo, Hedvig. Originally meaning a fighting woman, and later a queens name. Certainly telling of her hopes for the future.

These are transfered from an older time, and I will transfer one more then fresh stuffs to fill in the gaps. I had a new one the other day, but accidentally blew it away when it was finished while editing it. With that said here is Ursina.

Kitty and I

Well Ursen's locked me out of the blog. Kinda knew it would come to that sooner or later. For those of you who don't know me I'm Ursina Christeen, and I've followed Ursen from game to game, always the first born, always the one to take the lead and the first bumps and bruises. Sit down have an ale while we talk, me I don't drink ale, but the innkeeper, One-eyed Jonas, makes a special herbal tea for kittty and me. I have Ursen's middle name and his daughter's middle name for my last name. Right now the clan leader, Ursen, and I have been having some real arguments, but I really am not that bad. My melandru's stalker has been with me since the beginning, and is level 20, she is named Nights Child. It's strange she has never looked for a mate, just stuck by me. I've been fascinated by, and made pets of a lot of animals when I was a little girl. So becoming a Ranger was a natural when the troubles started. My parents were quit proud, even though they knew I would never marry, or at least not be looking for a husband. Kitty and herbal tea? Oh yes, there is a story there, and the innkeeper is glad to have her in here, she kind of keeps it peaceful for him, and all of the regulars love her. One night kitty and I were taking a break from all of the problems, just taking it easy, watching everyone relax and enjoy their ale, or meal, or both. Well four pretty rough thugs came in, half drunk already, and looking for trouble. They got through two more rounds of ale, then started to get nasty with everyone, and ignored Jonas for a few minutes when he asked them to be quiet. One saw me in the corner, but didn't see kitty in the shadows. He came over to talk to me and be rude. Well kitty came up, cleared her throat, and grabbed his leg, and shook him like a rat terrier shaking a rat. Mind you she didn't try to really hurt him, no broken bones, no big punctures or anything, just a few good size scratches, and bruises he would never forget. His three drinking buddies only saw him being shook, and heard him squalling, and they climbed all over each other to get out the door. When kitty released him, she gave her full battle cry, and he crawled as fast as a crab out of the door, and they never came back. Everybody sat there stunned for a minute, then started cheering for her, Jonas fixed a big bowl of tea for her, and the few she would let pet her did. Now it stays pretty quiet in here, except for the occasional argument, no more knives, no staves, no clubs, nothing serious. If things start to get out of hand, or a stranger starts making trouble she just clears her throat and everybody gets the message. Jonas loves her dearly, and always has a bowl of tea ready for her, on the house.

"All of you know why we are here, we may have a potential new member of Clan Erse, and all of you get to see her and interview her today. Remember this is an open meeting, and open voting on this one, please use courtesy towards our visitor. Sister Cristeen would you be so kind as to bring in Vinegar Pie so we can get started"? Ursen glanced around all were at least paying attention for once, even Ursina, Schizoid Lady didn't seem too happy, but that could be just her. Vinegar Pie walked in and took her place where Sister Cristeen showed her. She was a little on the short side, gray hair, slight, and seemed a little tense. "Welcome Vinegar Pie, what do wished to be addressed as?", Ursen asked. "Vinegar Pie will do nicely", she smiled. "That seems an odd name, how did you come by it?" Biscuit and Gravy started off general questions with. "Is it any odder than the name Biscuit and Gravy?", she said grinning. "It was a name given to me by my husband, because I have a vinegery personality, and I made the best vinegar pie he ever tasted." Schizoid Lady frowned at her, "You do know we already have three Necromancers already, and lost a fourth don't you?" "Then I will have three people to learn from so that I may improve my skills more rapidly." Schizoid Lady was surprised and pleased by the reply, she had been expecting a justification of why they needed another Necromancer. Ursina looked at her and asked, "Husband?" "Where is he? Will he be wanting to join us also?" Sadly Vinegar Pie answered, "He is dead." "How did it happen if I may ask?" Ursina added softly. "He was killed by a foul creature who we had never seen of it's kind before." "My husband held it off, while I escaped with son." "That is why I want to join Clan Erse, I could strengthen your clan in the fight and gain my revenge at the same time." The fierceness in her voice and the expression on her face would have given pause to any foe, living, undead or otherwise. Ursen looked at Ursina and knew Vinegar Pie had just gained a strong ally in Clan Erse, because Ursina's story was similar, and she well understood Vinegar Pie. Shadow Nun said, "Revenge is all well and good, but all in the clan take their turns at missions and quests." Schizoid Lady added, "And most members take their turn at quartermaster duties, some more than others." Ursen knew Schizoid Lady was unhappy in her duties, and trying to scare off Vinegar Pie. But Vinegar Pie countered, "Not only would I learn more about different equipment and items, it would make it possible for someone else to join the hunt, so no problem there." Now it was Schizoid Lady's turn to look thoughtful, Ursen thought she may have just won her over. May looked at her and asked, "Where is your son? Will he be joining us here?" Sister Cristeen nodded, "We can provide an extended family and excellent protection here." "No offense intended, but he is where he is warded and guarded by a couple who I would trust my life to." "In addition they will be schooling him in all the necessary things of life including scholarly pursuits, and with the beginning skills to a profession of his choice." Gravy Hound had been waiting his turn to speak and asked, "You seem a little old to be starting fresh, can you keep up the pace?" Vinegar Pie glared at him, "I see many here with the marks of experience and age about them, would I really be so different.?" "One can gain an intensity of purpose and willingness to work when they realize that they are mortal, and days for all persons are finite." Ursen was impressed, her answers were well thought out and reasoned, and assured many friends within the clan. Ursen looked at her, "Necromancer as your primary profession, but have you thought of your secondary?" "Yes, it took some thought and speaking with some of the clan members, but here are my conclusions and reasons." "First I know there is a time when I must face the Doppleganger, and I have no intention of dying then. All have said Ranger is well suited for that battle, and in this they are right." "But Clan Erse has many Rangers and has not much need for another." "But after talking with Curly Joe DeRita, who has never died in battle, he gave me a better idea." "I will take Paragon as my secondary." The whole room stirred, as she continued. "Combining the Dark and the Light in one will remind me that there is still good in the world, and there is more to life than revenge." "And will take people as off guard as it did all of you." "And last of all it suits my sense of humor, and reminds me of the qualities that my husband valued in me." Ursen stood up, "I think if there are no other comments or questions it is time to vote." He looked at Vinegar Pie, "This is an open vote, and you may stay to see who is for you or against you, and it takes an absolute majority to enter. Do you wish to stay?" Vinegar Pie silently nodded, and seem to stand more relaxed. "Ok all for extending our family by welcoming Vinegar Pie into the clan raise your hand". Schizoid Lady was a little slow, but added her vote of aye as well." Ursen smiled broadly and extended his hand to Vinegar Pie, "Welcome to Clan Erse, we will have an official swearing in and celebration later." "Meeting adjourned."

"Bette I can't tell you how much your decision has surprised me, I thought you would marry your cousin, Biscuit and Gravy. Certainly you two have been making eyes at each other long enough." Shadow Nun looked at the Clan leader a long moment then said, "Yes he means the world to me, but this is a better decision for the Clan, and for us, and I will be joining the same nunnery as my sister so there will still be a family connection." "But why? You are one of the best quartermasters we have had ever." Bette smile, "Then it is time to train someone else who knows how to do the basics, and Vinegar Pie would like to rest a bit after achieving her main goal." Ursen frowned, "Who will take your place in battle? You have proven your self over the years. I have no else to take your place." She shook her head, "Don't try to make me feel guilty, I have been doing chest runs and easy zaishen missions for a long time now. And you stuck your foot in your mouth over that silly challenge and will have to train a new member of the Clan from scratch. You are stretched thin enough now, and cash is tight so you need to keep the Clan at the same size for now." Ursen pleaded, "What am I going to do with all of the things you were caring for as quartermaster?" Bette bought out a book, "Listen you old pack rat, do you want a listing of what you are saving for a rainy day, my goodness you have enough for a monsoon. You use your free bonus staff for most of our Heroes, and we are already on a crash course of slimming down the storage." "As I said Vinegar Pie is willing to take over my quartermaster duties, and she will be good at it." He raised his hands in surrender, "Ok, ok so that is well though out, I should have known, but why this change now?" She sighed, "You can never see obvious, when all around can see it. Right now you have little time to do much but ready the Clan for the big changes we see in the future. You are getting better and better in your leadership, you even put up with Ursina's insecurities better than ever. But you need a breather of training a new recruit for a while." Ursen sputtered, "Ursina insecure? That opinionated old matron of the bow?" "She would take on a grizzly bear a night in the woods with a switch." Bette leaned forward, "Precisely, ever since that spell at quartermaster duties she is afraid she will be put on the shelf again, and she thinks that by making herself the meanest of the lot of us she will never be put on hold again." "Not only that but she hates to see clan members get hurt when she feels she could keep that from happening." "Look Ursen use her vast experience to help with a new recruit, keep working on her Hall of Monuments, you two go back to the earliest days of Clan Erse, even farther back than me." "I just want to serve our God by devoting myself to meditation, and prayer, maybe even do a little writing." The leader of the Clan finally gave in, "I suppose you will do it like your sister too? Leave out of here with nothing but the clothes on your back, and that a simple shift." "Why can't I keep my Necromancers happy enough to stay?" She shook her finger at him, "You know full well my case is not the same as her's, she truly left for the good of the clan, and you know it." "And Christophe and I have already discussed it, and said our goodbyes, you are just behind the curve again, don't try to throw it back on me again." Ursen frowned, "Considering it looks like a done deal how long to finish everything up?" She smiled, "Don't worry I'll help you do the change over, and might even have some tips for you for doing your new challenge, a week or so, but no more than 2 weeks of stalling by you", she warned him. They both got up and Ursen gave her a hug, "write often as you can please". She wiped tears away, "I promise I will, I will miss the whole lot of you."
