I have not spent much time cruising this forum... It did today at my distress.
I believe that the heading for this forum was:
"A place for civilized discussion"

What I read today was less than civilized.
Name calling, foul language, rude behaviour, and a general lack of respect. PLEASE NOTE:

2 Timothy 2:22 - 26

22 Run away from infantile indulgence. Run after mature righteousness--faith, love, peace--joining those who are in honest and serious prayer before God.
23 Refuse to get involved in inane discussions; they always end up in fights.
24 God's servant must not be argumentative, but a gentle listener and a teacher who keeps cool,
25 working firmly but patiently with those who refuse to obey. You never know how or when God might sober them up with a change of heart and a turning to the truth,
26 enabling them to escape the Devil's trap, where they are caught and held captive, forced to run his errands
 
If any of my posts come of as brash, they aren't meant to be. I don't find it easy to express myself in a serious manner on the internet and when I try sometimes I come off anal. I'm naturally a goof, and trying to debate seriously is my downfall.

Don't you see that he's the one starting it? I came in here and posted "ditto", saying I think we should have "Civilized Discussion"....instead, he comes in here and attacks me, and posts some stupid "score"

and yet, i still did not attack back, i simply told him how immature he sounded

and you made a comment about me having the truth and said my sig said i was a fool and you said i was +1 so i rebuked you but cant find it any more, and in that post i had made the comment that you should learn to read more literature and maybe you could understand what groaking is, its a classic might want to read it, called a stranger in a strange land

BTW, not everyone has read the same books, you know. Not having read "A Stranger in a Strange Land" does not mean I'm illiterate. Have you ever read the Odyssey in latin? 'Nuff said.
 
yes i have read the obyssey not in latin, now then i didnt tell you to go out and read the bible in hebrew
 
How about reading these verses... pick your language, version, or translation.

Proverbs 20:3 It is to a man's honor to avoid strife,
but every fool is quick to quarrel.

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.

The Bible isn't necessarily useless (IMHO). It simply isn't the divine word of God.

It still has many stories with great morals and lessons within them.
 
1 Corinthians 1: 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I believe it to be the Word of God. If you wish to debate that, we can discuss that another post.

However the intent of this post is ask people to voice thier opinions with more respect for others. For the Believers in the crowd, we can view the scriptural references and measure our words against them.
