Christian Metal / Rock

Can I get a compilation of songs by various artist and their works to download? THe Christian station down here is tainted with a touch of pop that I find is secular and offensive unfortunatley. We should pray for that station. In the mean time I wouldnt mind burning a cd to listen to untill I can afford XM satelite radio. It's a shame we don't have 89.7 Power FM in Florida lol.

Some of the bands I like
POD
Pillar
Demon Hunter
Third Day
Project 86 (some of their stuff)
Skillet
Etc

Thanks Guys :-)

Demon Hunter seems to be the closest thing to metal on your list... and you had me all excited :).

Anyway here are some bands that you may or may not have heard of that you would probably like:
Stavesacre (really really good christian radio rock band, miles ahead of most secular radio rock. Check out their new cd here)
Disciple (hard rock/rapcore with very overtly Christian lyrics, get some here, here, and their all-time greatest song here)
Blindside (get some here. Start with their song Pitiful, it's got the most clear message. Then I would say try I Know Why You Dress In Black, All Of Us, and Fell In Love With The Game)
Training For Utopia (I am recommending you these guys because they share the same vocalist as Demon Hunter, theres a song here. PM me if you want to hear more. You should at least hear the song "Singlehanded Attempt At Revolution", it's perhaps the most in-your-face song by any Christian band ever, and I'm not exaggerating at all.)
Maylene and the Sons of Disaster (I would put these guys on par with Demon Hunter in terms of hardness, but they're pretty easy to get into. Check em out here)

That's about all I have for you, if you like Training For Utopia's sound though, I have alot more bands similar to them.

Wow, I like that song, Killerah. What would you say is the best Disciple cd? I have Rise Up.

I have only got Back Again, but I used to have a bunch of their old songs on my computer, and I like their old stuff alot better. I would say either By God, or This Might Sting A Little, and I'm leaning a little toward This Might Sting A Little.

Exactly why I was asking. lol Im really wanting to know more bands like Demon Hunter. Thanks for the recomendations :-)

I must admit, I tend more towards secular heavy metal (Korn, Tool, Rob Zombie), but the Christian stuff I've heard is pretty good.
Unfortunantly I can't name any specific bands (except for P.O.D., whom I've heard on secular stations).

The problem is that my mother doesn't like any heavy metal, Christian or not.

BTW, if anybody has heard the secular band Tool, could you point me to any Christian bands that play that style? Thanks.

If you like Tool you'll probably like Stavesacre. You can hear their entire newest CD at the link I posted above. And I was just coming to this thread to mention that if you are offended by the a word don't listen to the song "We Say" on that album, because they say jack***. And that doesn't make them secular or anything, I've heard that Pillar says the a word in one of their thanks, and I know that if you look in P.O.D.'s Satellite CD, their guitar guy says the s word in his thank yous. So yeah, if that bugs you just skip the song, but don't hate the band because of it, they're really quite good.

Anyway, since you asked for more bands like Demon Hunter, I'll post a list of popular metal/metalcore bands you might be interested in later.

My favorite Christian rock band is Stryper...don't listen to a whole lot of Christian music...not unless it sounds like old rock...I do like Don Francisco and Carmen (neither of them are rock though).

Sweet! Have you ever heard any live stuff from them? I love how he introduces all of their songs :). They're totally cheesey, but they are pretty talented (I'm not a musician, but it sounds talented to me) and I like 'em. If you want a bootleg live recording, you can grab it here. This was never released on a CD as far as I know, so it's not like stealing or anything. If any mods think it's innapropriate for me to link to it, then go ahead and snip the link.

Now, about that metal :).

Metalcore:
Zao
As I Lay Dying
Bloodlined Calligraphy Check these folks out if you wanna hear a girl belt it. She's unbelievable.
Norma Jean
The Chariot
Symphony In Peril
Nodes of Ranvier
Inked In Blood
Sinai Beach

Hardcore:
No Innocent Victim
xDeathstarx Why hardcore bands put x's around their names I may never know. These guys have 4 vocalists.
xLOOKING FORWARDx
Stretch Arm Strong These guys don't do strictly hardcore
Hit The Deck
Seventh Star
Comeback Kid
Bloody Sunday

Death/Black Metal:
Horde The Holy Unblack band that started it all, respect.
Sympathy Totally incredible one man Death Metal band.
Extol Listen to "Ember" for an example of their Death Metal days.
Becoming The Archetype
Crimson Moonlight Listen to the "Veil of Remembrance" clips.
Holy Blood Folk Metal band, pretty easy to get into.
Slechtvalk
Pantokrator
Frost Like Ashes (WARNING: Do not listen to these guys if you're trying to get into black metal, they will make you cry)
Lengsel
Antestor These guys are awesome, but I couldn't find any clips for you.

Other:
Beloved [US]
Every New Day

Enjoy your manly music :).

EDIT: Oh yeah, and if you're interested in power metal at all, let me know. A good example of power metal is Theocracy.

IMPELLITTERI .. hands down

check out some samples here and you can read the lyrics aswell

http://www.rapture.net/impellitteri/

also if you can, find the song "Kingdom of Light" one of my favourite guitar solos in this song :)
Thanks so much for posting this! I've been wanting to hear some of their stuff ever since I found out Rob Rock used to be in that band. If any of you likes power metal, you NEED to buy Rob Rock's latest CD Holy Hell (yes, they're Christian. It makes sense if you've heard the song). You can hear a couple more samples here, and you can pick the CD up here.

EDIT: Wow, check out this video Impellitteri had on their website. It just doesn't get much cheesier than this.
