Choosing gear for PvP

Tek7 (Legacy)

CGA & ToJ President
I have a few choices to make before I head out into the battlegrounds with Ulfbrikt. I'm going to list items under each slot category and ask which one you think is best for PvP.

ChestWrist
Hands
Finger
EDIT: Click here then select "PvP" from the "View Alternate Profiles" dropdown box to see which items I'm currently favoring.

EDIT: Added Arena Bands to Wrist section.

Pretty sure I got my gear picked out, but I'd appreciate a second opinion. Please check out my PvP profile and let me know if you have any suggestions.

I now have all items listed in my PvP profile, including the Arena Master trinket (thanks to the unexpected win yesterday at Gurubashi Arena).

If I don't swap any of my gear out for other pieces, all that's left is to get enchants (already have the mats) and re-spec.

I'd Trade in these: Crusader's Pauldrons of the Monkey, for these:

Fleshhide Shoulders
Binds when picked up
Shoulder Leather
95 Armor
+5 Strength
+6 Agility
+15 Stamina
Requires Level 37

They drop in RFD.

Put Agility +15 on that Polearm of yours.

I had actually glanced at that piece, but decided that the 110 points or so extra armor justifies the loss of a few (4) Stamina points (which I can make up with enchants). Still, I can run RFD without gaining experience, so I might change my mind in the future.

The mats for the +15 Agility enchant are very, very expensive. I know; I priced them out already.

And if I snag any +Agility enchant for the Polearm, I'll try to track down someone who can perform the +25 Agility enchant for 2H weapons. Considering I never heard of this enchant until I searched for "enchant agility" on thottbot, I doubt that many people can do it.

I'm still considering picking up (read: buying) two one-handed weapons specifically designed for PvP (I have two Ebon Shivs in my bags right now), in case I find I don't care for using a Polearm.

I can do +25 to 2h, it's not that rare. The recipe requires I believe friendly with timbermaw. There was a bug though that people weren't able to buy the recipe for some reason, think its fixed now. So if you see anyone doing +15 agi they can probably do +25 to 2h (15 agi required honored rep with the furbies!).

Roger that.

I'll price the mats for the +25 Agility enchant, but will probably skip it, since I don't want to dip in my epic mount fund.

If you are going to stay at 48-49 there is no epic mount fund.

I didn't say I'd never make level 50 or even 60, I just said it would be a long, long time before I did.

Right now, I have approximately 770g total, between Ulfbrikt and Spenser, and I intend to save the bulk of it for leveling leatherworking, buying recipes, purchasing PvP gear when I gain rep with PvP factions, and, of course, my epic mount.

I beleive you have to be 60 to wear officer's stuff.

Plus cooking or plus first aid gear is dabomb in PvP. :)

Anything that has +to hit, +to crit, +AP and +RangedAP would all be of great benefit to a hunter, even at the expense of stats.

You can go ahead and buy your epic mount now, then start to enchant your weapons. Being a good pvp = lots-o-money and time spent.

Aye, almost all gear that requires a certain rank also requires level 60, but most (not all) gear that requires a certain level of reputation with PvP factions doesn't require level 60. For example: one version of the Sentinel's Medallion requires level 48.

Icthus means the Knight+ armor, you do have to be 60 for that stuff. Tek, you are referring to the stuff you buy from the lady outside the Champion's Hall.

To do well at PvP, you will find you that you have to put more time, effort and cash towards it then you do for end game raiding. Just a thought. Its supposed to be possible to attain rank 10 casually. I've yet to do it, yet I've been PvPing as casual as Blizzard said it is possible to do, to get rank 10. Yet, during the same amount of time, I've managed to get my whole tier 1 epic set (Prophecy), being just as if not more casual in PvE end game raiding as I was PvPing.

PvP leveling is way harder.

I hard core pvp'd for about a month. Well for about 5 hours a day. I actually went two weeks without losing a single game. And I made 10 but did not get close to 11.

lol i guess their version of casually getting that rank 10 is like 5 hours a night and as much as possible on wknd to pvp...i aimed for rank 11 once, and got it. Don't think I have that kind of time anymore to just pvp..gets boring.

In all mentions of my plan to camp out in the battlegrounds after reaching level 48, I neglected to say that I don't intend to "grind honor" or aspire to any rank higher than 3 or 4. The gear I want can be obtained through casual PvP, as it requires a certain level of reputation rather than rank.

I think the PvP ranking system is severely flawed, and have no interest in spending absurd amounts of time trying to reach a certain rank.

Sorry, Camp = Grind in my mind. Because to wait for the stinking ques take forever!!!

Uhhh yeah, it always will be with two sided conflicts. You have to find a way to introduce more sides to the battle so it will have a way to even out. Or institute a ranking system for all bg's. But, that will not happen without us paying for it.

I run WoW windowed (not full screen), so I can always ALT+TAB out to write an e-mail, make a post on the forums, or handle some administrative task while I wait for the BG to pop. That's often what I did when I was running BGs at 39.

Aye, I can't say that I have a better idea (because I don't), it just seems that this is yet another area of the game that, at first, appears promising to the casual player, but turns out to be yet another facet that rewards the addicted and furthers their addiction and punishes the casual gamer.

EDIT: In an effort to pull this thread back on topic, here are the choices I'm facing:
