CD Keys?

My mate just got a pc and i got him to download steam with the CS cache. But it doesnt play. I am assuming he needs to install HL.

Ok, i have HL on cd but i used it on my pc to install. If i install on his will it mess mine up? I have also installed CZ and HL2 on mine so i have a number of cd-keys attached to one steamID.

If it attached my cdkey to his steamid will it hax me? Im gonna have to buy the game for him arent i..lol. Unless theres a way to play cs for free.
 
once you enter the cd key into your account, it's permanent. Period. Even if someone else manages to find your cd key, it will say CD KEY invalid, or in-use.

Yet, those are the steam errors I get when its my own cd-key!

You do know theirs a percentage on the games, right?

-Play Games
-Right click to CS
-Properties

Status: Ready to Play
Amount Acquired: 100%

When you just get CS or any games, the Amount Acquired will be at 0% (zero percent), you have to wait till steam completely downloads it, or else it will not work properly. Depending on ISP: 30 mins - days
 
rizz, no. just install steam, then cs. it works. as for cd keys, once u enter it, noone else can use it.
 
You can get keys for CS on ebay for under $10. I know ebay is a risk but I also know people that have gone this route and their keys purchased this way were good.
 
Aren't there programs that let you choose what CD keys you want to have active at the time?

Rizz, I can show you how to play 1.6 without steam, or a legit steam key. I use this method when I get banned from servers (rarely happens, unless im feeling mouthy..or want to tk :P) Anyway, I just make a new steam account, copy a couple files, etc to my cs directory, then play

And I already own several copies of CS, so I am not pirating the game. Anyway, if your interested lemme know..or you can spend the 5 bux on the game.

Edit: I will not show anyone else how to do this, I offered to show rizz because its for his friend..and rizz is leet. I do not want people to use this to evade bans on toj, or other servers.

Yes..there are, they are called key changers. They are not illegal, but are a useful tool for managing cd keys for games such as Battlefield 1942, etc etc. Key changers do not work with Steam, with Steam you have to create a seperate account for each CD Key, as your cd key is binded to your account and can never be used again for another account. You can however have several steam accounts.
 
I bought the game.. Got a duff CD key >_<... bought the game again... Im gonna have 4 copies of HL when im finished here..lol
 
hehe nice..right now i have 3-4 steam accounts..one for hl2/cs, one for cz/cs, and one for cs..another i think is for cs lol.
