Can you sini n a  dream

You don't dream all night. You dream for a brief period of time just after you go to sleep, and just before you wake up.

question: "Can you sin in a dream?"

answer: Yes!

source: Jesus Christ

Matthew 5 : 21-22 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. . . . "

Matthew 5 : 27-28 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Sin does not start with the actions, but starts from within.

James 1 : 14 - 15 "but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."

So if in your dream, you fulfiled sinful desires of lust or hatred, then you have sinned according to Jesus. For dreams come from our minds and our hearts, and if we allow evil desires to thrive in our dreams, then it is most likely already thriving in our hearts and thoughts. And yes, according to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, unGodly thoughts, even in dreams, is sin.

Would you punish a child for tripping and breaking your lamp? No, his actions were not from his heart, but from an accident. Would you punish a child if he purposefully swung a bat at the lamp and broke it? Yes, because it was done on purpose. If a child threatened to break the lamp with a bat, would you not try to take the bat away and punish the child? True that he did not follow through because you stopped him, but his desires were improper and his heart was in the wrong. In the same way, when our hearts lust or anger or blaspheme God, or anything else that is unGodly, then that too is wrong and is very sinful. And if you dream lust, unrighteous anger, or blaspheme, then in your heart, you have sinned in wickedness.

Try to keep your dreams clean and Godly, that you may strengthen your heart more in the Lord, and sin less.

I realize that you can to some degree control what goes on in your head, but how do you ultimately "keep" your dreams clean? Christ's renewal within us is extremely powerful, but we can't get rid of that root of Sin, can we?

Just playing the devil's advocate here

When I was younger, I used to think that it would be okay to think lustful thoughts as long as I didn't act upon them.  And I would allow them to be in my mind that they would also inhabit my dreams.  But then I found out that if you just look at a woman lustfully, then you are sinning against her in your heart.  Plus, I also discovered that the more I thought about it, the more I desired to fullfil it.  So I had to put it to a stop, and told myself it was wrong.

I would still have dreams about it, so what i had to do was install the value in my mind and in my heart that it was wrong to think lustfully.  Every time a thought would enter my mind (like a senario), I would either eject it from my mind, or play out the senario in a way that I did not indulge.  I did that so often (for every thought that came), that soon, it was no longer a problem in my mind and in my heart.  And as a result, when I would dream and a temptation would come, I would resist and I would no longer lust in my dreams.

After doing a dream journal on myself for a long time, I want to share with you what I believe dreams really are.  (and if you remember your dreams, you might start noticing this.)

The environment of your dream will consist of places, sights, and images you have previously experienced.  Let's say one day you see your neighbor on the way to the store.  That night, you might dream that you saw your neighbor at the store.  (this actually happened to me.)

Now, what you do in the dream reflects the core of your heart and desires.  Let's say you play a lot of video games, and you are always fighting against something, or trying to keep your character alive in a dangerous place.  In your dreams, you might try to make efforts to save people, battle an enemy, or flee from something trying to get you.  Or let's say you're a bully, and you like picking on little kids.  In your dream, you might see some kids, and you'll go on over and start beating on them.

Now you may not be able to control what kinds of environment you dream (since that's dependant on things you've seen and been too the previous day(s) ), but you can change what you do in the dream by changing that very thing in your heart.  You want to stop lusting in your dreams?  Stop lusting in your heart.  You want to praise God in your dreams, always praise God in your heart.  It really works!  And I speak from experience.

So although you will never get rid of your core sinful nature (as it is bound to you like the law of gravity) until death, you can, through the Grace of God, and the strength of the Holy Spirit, build up a resistance in your heart, and put guards in your mind so that whenever something wicked trys to enter there, you can eject it before it takes root. The temptations will always be there, and we will sometimes fall. But we'll always be able to stand up strong in the Lord and fight pretty effectivly against those temptations, allowing us to walk more righteously in the eyes of God.

I find that you dont get dreams like that if you give each day to God. I used to get them all the time.. Some that were even worse than i could imagine conciously... But i dont have them at all now.

Still dreams are not real...While you should guard your heart and mind before you sleep, i think if you put the stuff in you do in a dream at the same level as reality then you are missing the point. To blur the lines between fantasy and reality (especially when we all play computer games which involve killing etc..) is a dangerous game.

Maybe you can sin in a dream, maybe you cant. Either way I am forgiven and hold no guilt from it. Yet i will still strive to be more like God and if my dreams are affecting me badly i will aim to sort it out.

So either way.. Get closer to God. Give him more time. Focus on what is good and remove what is bad. Then it wont matter if your dreams are a sin cos u wont be having any bad ones.

It is true that dreams themselves are not real.  And it is also true that you should equate dream content with reality (unless its a prophetic dream).

(I've had some cool dreams about angels, or about falling to my face to ask God for help.)

However, what dreams can tell us, is what lies in the core of our hearts.  Pay close attention to how you act and react in a dream, and you'll be able to see what your heart (the part God looks at) is really desiring, thinking, or believing.

Quote[/b] (Jango @ May 25 2004,8:46)]I may be wrong, but I think you may be reffering to what's named a "wet dream". No, that is not a sin. It is your body's way of getting the extra "stuff". It is a part of God's design, not a sin. If that is not what you are talking about, then my answer is still "no". If God would blame you for the things that would be sins in real life, then He might as well send us all to hell, because we have no control over our dream.

The quote about wet dreams and it is not a sin and it is part of gods plan. That atually is very similar to the sikh religion, they believe in not cutting their hair because its gods plan and y would u cut something that god has chosen to give u. The only thing my friend couldn't answer is fingure nails grow but they still cut them, but y don't we keep them since its part of gods plan. The sikh beliefs are actually very similar to christian beliefs.
Ok I don't think u can sin in a dream. If it is satan must be waiting for me. And hopefully hell is not like the movie Little Nicky. I don't want to be Hitler.
I disagree with the statments that said u have no control of your dreams. I was watching a show on discovery about these budist monks who could control their heart rate and breathing to the point where u would think they were dead but just sleeping. So if a person can control their heartrates y can't they control their dreams. But I enjoy my dreams last night I had a dream that burger king sold burgers on the transit bus I took to schools and Charlese Theoron was the bus driver. And that can't be that bad. She was pretty cute in the movie with Keanu Reaves.
I always have these deja vu feelings during the day like what is about to happin in real life has already happened in a a dream I had sometime ago.
Atually once I remembered what happened in my dream when I was having the deja vu feeling and it was during a math test in grade 11 and I thought I'd try to see if my dream was right so I wrote down the answers like I saw it in my dream and when I got the test back I score 120%. I got the bonus right too.
Wouldn't it be weird if we were atually in the Matrix and dreams are just the matrix dl a program into your mind of what u are going to do for that day. Ok that was a little weird.
I think people can control their dreams we just haven't learned how. I plan on taking alot of thes meditation classes because it is proven that meditation atually improves the imune system. So no more colds.

Hey I finally figured out how to post quotes.
Thats crazy. Fo shezzie

Really? Once I had a dream my school band was playing in this large museum about 45 minutes away, and then we all got locked in and these robots started chasing us. I had never thought anything like that before.

I never said "part of God's plan", I said "part of God's design.". If wet dreams did not happen, guys' desire would build up to the point where you could not resist even if you wanted to.

So the fact that it takes many many years ( Probably most of their life. ) to train themselves to do that is unimportant?

I don't think that if u don't have wet dreams your desire would build up to the point that they can't resist getting with someone. If god made us so that we make so much sperm that we have to get rid of it to make place for new sperm maybe he wanted us to have fun instead of wasting what our boby created on our bed sheets.
Sorry just my opinion.

Also how did England loose to France by letting 2 goals in in the last min of play. But is was a great game.

It is known that when your body is full of semen ( Can I say that here? I assume so. ) that your sexual desire is stronger then after a wet dream.

thats y u have wet dreams, because your system needs to get rid of the old to make space for the new good stuff

I don't think so. It's not like if you don't discharge for a period of time that you'll explode or something.

No..you have wet dreams when you have sexual fantasies during REM sleep. If you could only hold so much sperm, and it had to burst out, why would it only happen when you sleep, hmm?

its your body making you have a "sexual fantasies during REM sleep" so that it clears your system

Very interesting... It could be differnet in some ppl.. u could be willing while some are unwilling.. for me i don't know what the answer is.. :o

No, it just fills up. You have a wet dream like every 1-3 days if it is not removed in other ways. It waits until it's full, then discharges during the night.

Some boys during puberty have ejaculations during the day, too.

No, every boy has them. well, not every. If you are sexually active, you probably won't have them.
