We had a chance to upgrade our Shaw Cable Internet for additional stuff;
# Virus Protection
# Internet Shield (Firewall)
# Parental Control
# Automatic Updates
# Spam Control
# Spyware and Pop-Up Blocking
# Free, for up to 3 PCs

I noticed the Internet speed is, I think, is very slow.

It says Feature, they have boasted up the Download Speed Up to 5.0 Mb

A 28.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 304761 bps, or 297 kbps.

I think 5000K is around 5.0 Mb, yes? So why is it about 10x faster than 56K?

I'm ranked, #565 out of #584. Higher the #(number), the worse you are.

Yea I have slow speeds with shaw too, it depends on how far u are from the hub/router (what ever u call it) in your area. I'm thinking of going for extream.

Make sure you use the right region for the internet report thingy. If u choose the region far away from you, various internet traffic can slow you down or cause choke points etc.etc.

Have u talked to shaw, maybe they can help u tune up some of your settings.
Also did u get a new modem or are u using the same one u had before. I heard that they are giving new customers a newer modem thats supposed to be better than the old ones. I know I have the old one that came free from signing up a while ago, but since I'm thinking of going for extream, was thinking of buying the new one.

What kind of choke points, exactly?

Now I got a good reason to call them tomorrow.

5 mins I'm typing this message, the 6th min later, im timed out, argh.

Works the same with gaming; half way through the game, everyone is dead but me!?(everyone online is dead but me!?) then I get cut off...

I heard that they are giving new customers a newer modem thats supposed to be better than the old ones.

I KNOW IT CAME the newer cable modems. I even saw TribForce [7F], talking about it. I should ask them...

But Shaw's website wont say it, odd...
