BWE2 LoE Debreif

Stc95

Tribe of Judah Guild Wars Chapter Leader
After another weekend of GW2 greatness, I am curious to know how everyone's guild experience was. Last BWE there was a lot of complaints about things not working or being implemented or being unprepared for. Hopefully all of those have been addressed.

So with BWE2 finally over, what are your thoughts regarding the guild and anything that we can fix. Obviously I can't fix that Guardians don't have a 1200 range weapon, but I can fix the invitation process to the guild. I know a couple members were not able to get into the guild this weekend and I accidentally removed the ability of officers to invite new members but that has been remedied. I have heard word that LoE still feels cliche-y, and I hope that is only because it is a beta and most people are trying to establish their own characters and play styles.

The limit on the party size kinda works over the clic thing too. Several times we wanted to make a larger party and couldn't. I personally would like to see a party size at least that of GW of 8. It did help some that slowly Mumble is getting worked out a little. I am struggling to learn a lot of new names showing up in Mumble. My problem is that I have a hearing loss that makes it difficult to distinguish different voices. There are smushing groups made up of GW and non-GW people though. And whether or not they were from GW there were a lot of people doing their own thing simply because of different goals, and different character levels. Lots of shared info on Mumble concerning game play I thought.

The guild experience was great for me. I am new to the guild and was playing with ursen and a few other people he plays with and it was great. I will say it will be hard at first because of the personal story or just exploration to have some fluidity at first, but i think as everyone starts to play with each other and figure things out it should be good. Mumble was working great for me with no problems. The group size was small i would like 8 too. There was a couple of bosses (spiders) that we ran into that could of use a couple extra people. I don't know if this is anets way of starting to get people used to 5 man groups for dungeons and so we may never see 8 man again. But even then if we are all able to get used to playing our characters and our play style then we can see who needs what in the way of support depending on what they are doing which should help with playing with others and guild fluidity.

I rolled a Norn Ranger but stopped playing after about 20 minutes. I still don't like the movements in the game. Hopefully they'll improve this, but I think the toons run too slow and it doesn't seem fluid to me. He seems like he's having spaz attack when he jumps and goes into an epileptic fit when using a skill. It's probably just me. I don't have the latest and greatest computer, but it is a Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 275 video card, so I don't think it's the computer. I also find the ambient noise and "conversations" to be annoying. I still don't like the cinematics involved with the storyline, but it says that it's a "work in progress," so maybe that will be "richer" later.

I had been debating whether to renew my sub to SWTOR when it expires towards the end of July. I think I probably will unless the next beta changes my mind. It's a good thing that there are so many games available, there's something for everyone :)

Guilds that are made in the betas, are they going to still be around when the game launches or are they wiped also?

They will be wiped. Nothing is saved from beta over to release.

Well I had a great time playing in the beta. I'm not sure where the accusation of "clique-ness" is coming from. Was that person in mumble with the rest of us? Everyone we encountered seemed to be having a good time and our party of 5 was formed with old friends and new players. There was 1 time when a 6th asked to join us and he couldn't because of the party size limit but he didn't seem upset over it. He stayed with our party as much as he could but was left behind when we entered "personal stories".

I think there was some frustration over not being able to join the guild. I received about 5 whispers ingame over the weekend from various folk asking for an invite. I tried, but just could not figure out how to invite them. STC was online though on Sunday and he figured it out and fixed the problem.

Even when players couldn't join us, due to being on a different server or party limits, they were still in the chat channel sharing experiences. If someone is still complaining of "clique" issues then I just say to join us on mumble or TS in the evenings and get to know us. We don't bite....much.

I had a good time with this beta. Last beta, I couldn't find anyone. But this time, I spotted Raven in Bettletun and struck up a conversation. I got into Mumble and then more folks would gather. Fire, Ursen, Shamgar, and a few others. Being new to the guild, I expected to be on the "outside". But these folks were friendly, often willing to do quests that "we" all needed - and yes, they even asked about what I needed and wanted to do, too, even being new.

And yes, when I logged on Sunday, several had already gathered as a party and were heading to do a dungeon instance. But the party was already full. They couldn't take me along. And since I was the last one on, that's fair. I sensed that they wanted to, but it was a limit in game mechanics. So I went to explore new areas, but stayed in Mumble to listen to how the dungeon experience went. I respectfully stayed quiet so I didn't interrupt and I enjoyed hearing about it even though I couldn't be there.

So I'm looking forward to gaming with new friends and sharing the GW2 experience with LoE. I have no complaints.

Welcome aboard, Taran. They really are a fun group to game with. I look forward to seeing you in-game.

Shamgar: Uh, what Taran is trying say is... Our Beta Guild is really cool. You're not even gonna believe it. Like, let's say you're walking along Tyria with your party.
[Picks up a charr plush]
Shamgar: You're walking along, la-de-da, woo. All of a sudden there's a Centaur in the middle of the road. And you hit the S key. EEEEEEEEE! Whoa, that was close. Ha-ha. Now let's see what happens when you're walking with the "other guy's" guild. You're walking along, the guildies start shouting from the back, "Where are you guys!" "Not now, Locahantus!" Elite spider Boss. EEEEEEEE! I CAN'T STOP!
[Gets Slammed by spider]
Shamgar: There's a cliff! AAAAAHH! And your guildies are screaming,
[sets guildies on fire]
Shamgar: "Oh my Gosh, we're burning alive!" "No! I can't feel my legs!" Here comes the charr medic.
[Imitates siren]
Shamgar: And the medic gets out and says, "Oh my Goodness". Taran's around the corner puking his guts out.
Welcome new guy!

Most unhelpful phrase, "Here" with no corresponding map ping.:p
