Some sales people work off of commision, but a lot of them don't anymore. A lot of the pushiness from the sales people is coming from the management though.[b said:Quote[/b] (mechboy @ Oct. 29 2004,7:46)]Ok I just came back from future shop and I got a 20GB IPod and a IPod dock. I haven't used it yet, just finishing my sushi before I open it, so that I don't get soy sause on it. But I'm pretty excited.
No more electronic purchaces for me till Boxing Day.
A side question y are sales people so pushy, I don't want the extended warranty and I don't need u to go on and on about the benifits of it even after I say no. And I'm not made of money y ask if I want to buy every Ipod extra there is to buy (well not till next payday).![]()
I used to work at Best Buy and there was always a push to sell the extended warranties. The sales staff never got anything for it unless they were the top seller, and then the prize was usually a pat on the back and maybe a tee-shirt. (occasionally there was a gift card to a resteraunt)
The sales people there were constantly pressured to sell the stupid warranties though to the point where you were afraid of losing your job if you didn't sell a certain amount every month. Nobody lost their job over it, but the pressure made you feel like it was a possibility.
Personally, I was more of the type of sales person that just presented the information and then let the customer make the decision. I honestly didn't care what people bought because I got paid the same regardless of what they purchased. The only time I tried to steer a customer's decision was when they were looking at the crappy computers with known problems.
My supervisor didn't care much for my attitude, but he couldn't say much because I was always one of the top 5 sales persons in the store.
I FINALLY got transfered off of the sales floor to the tech department and then eventually left. All I can say is thank goodness I don't have to work in sales anymore.
