BioShock 2: Going to be sitting this one out

I personally really like Bioshock 1. But, I paid $5 for it....

I loved the story and the world they created was way cool.

I agree combat was awkward.

I also am not jumping on the Bioshock 2 first wave. But, that is mostly because it seems they have not changed much. Same world but you play as a different person? But, I would not pay $50 for it.

Call me crazy...

The few games I have played based on and including UT3 have been smooth. Chances are you might have anti aliasing enabled with suboptimal hardware, which leads to a nice delay between moving the mouse and seeing a response.

i still haven't played through the first one. my brother i think is about ready to choke me for not doing so

edit: i have the first one. i want to like it. but shooters just kinda bore me.

Doubtful. I get full frames per second in UT3. The controls just feel awkward when compared to games like Quake Live, UT2004, and TF2, where the controls are spot on.

Will be buying.....on XBOX360!
You make me sad. :(

Now I feel like playing UT2004 to remind me that many great developers and publishers once cared about PC gamers only 6 years ago.

Probably because you have AA disabled in those games.
Trust me. It's not framerate or sub-optimal hardware.

In UT3, it feels like projectiles shoot higher than where I aim the gun in comparison with other FPS games. Movement also felt stiffer than in UT2004.

In Borderlands, jumping was "flighty," the FOV was far too narrow, and aiming didn't feel precise.

In BioShock, it felt like I was fighting the controls more than I was fighting the enemies--which is a shame, because the game looks terrific and the story is intriguing.

But in Global Agenda, a game based on Unreal Engine 3 but using a third-person perspective, the controls feel fine.

If I switch between Quake Live or UT2004 and UT3, the difference between the games is obvious. That may be why I spend so little time playing UT3, even though I've owned the Collector's Edition since shortly after the game was released.

I have to say I will be buying the game once the price goes down.

I loved the original Bioshock too much to pass this up.

No dedicated servers really stinks though.

I'll probably get it once I save the money for it. I don't give a rat's behind about no dedicated servers. I personally loath games with multiplayer...unless they are made strictly for multiplayer (TF2 or CS), or that multiplayer is a bigger part of the game then the single player (i.e. L4D and L4D2 (not CODMW or CODMW2)).

So it seems all that SecuROM rot didn't do much good. BioShock 2 is already available on torrent trackers and it doesn't come out until tomorrow.

SecuROM = fail. If anything, it encourages piracy. See: Spore.

If the PS3 version has mouse and keyboard support, I may check it out if/when I get a PS3, but not until then.

Since some people think it's immoral to put SecuROM on games now, would it be good to link the sites that have the hacks for SecuROM?

:D

This and the other thread on Bioshock 2 got me thinking on that.

No, because (1) someone's going to be mad at me if I allow it and (2) users interested in cracks should be able to find the files themselves using any popular search engine. You're on your own if you decide to download a crack, though; there's a lot of crossover between cracks, warez, and malware (virii, spyware, adware, etc.).

In other words, if you decide you hate SecuROM but decide to buy the game, try to crack it, and end up with a virus on your computer, don't come cryin' to me. You're responsible for your own actions.

I'm taking the safe route: I won't buy the game and I won't pirate it.

I'm kind of on the fence about why this has been going on for so long, since this it is so obvious this is the truth. It just seems odd that companies would not realize something that most all gamers agree on and constantly vocalize. So, I'm either left with:
A) Companies figure if they do this long enough, it will be accepted. So just in case this is the case, I'm doing my part and voting with my wallet.
B) Companies have actually not figured this out yet. This sounds crazy, but I've worked too many places with higher-ups that are completely clueless and arrogant to disregard this notion. It even happens in the gaming industry...took 15 years to start working on a new 2D Sonic.

Anyway...on the original topic...it looks like Big Daddy is going to be dropping some bombs.

Hahahahahaha Oh wow.

Bomberman was the BOMB (pun totally intended) game back in the day.

I had it on the Sega Genesis.
