As of now we do not have an established Bible study, but I don't want MSC to fail to spend time in the word. So as an opener I pose these questions, but feel free to write as much as you want to explain your answer.

Who is your favorite Character in the Bible & why?
What verses back up the things you like about this character?
Do you relate to this Character? If so why? If not explain why this character stands out to you.
What did they do that makes them important to you?

Wow, this is a great topic! I can't wait to post, but I want to do a little more reading before I do so :D

That is a very hard one. I could easily pick 10 (Joshua, Joseph (Old Testament), Elijah, Gideon, etc.). But the one that keeps coming to my mind is King David.
In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit had not yet been poured out for us in the way it is today. The Spirit of the Lord was given out in a much more select manner, but David caught God's eye and found favor in the sight of the Lord. He was chosen by God to become king of Israel. "So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power." 1 Samuel 16:13.
David was not perfect. He took Bathsheba and killed Uriah her husband. When the Ark of the Covenant was returning to Israel, he did not obey God's commands and his son died as a result.
But David always called back out to God. See Psalm 51. God always answered David. And when David had to go to battle, his troops said he should not fight because they said it was better that thousands of them fall than that David should fall.
David was a man after God's heart. I never fully understood that until recently. I use to think it meant a man whose heart was liken to God. But what it really means is a man who is actively striving and seeking God's heart. Why else would he be unashamed in tearing off his outer clothes and dancing with joy before the Lord in the sight of all his people. David was not ashamed of his love for God.

I want to say Jesus, but he is to easy to talk about... Hmm...nope, I am going to have to go with Jesus...

Jesus: Son of God, Son of Man, Sacrifice, Example, Pure, Sinless, Perfect.

The four gospels have enough verses about him to amaze you!

I wish I related with Jesus. Christ-ian, Little Christ, to be like Christ, Jesus the Christ, savior to all. I am no where near a little Christ, nor am I even near worthy to be called a little Christ.

Jesus stepped out of his throne, down from heaven, TO DIE ON OUR CROSS, COME ON!!! IF THAT ISN'T IMPORTANT, AND YOU DO NOT SEE THAT AS TRUE LOVE, you are blind. For God is ultimate love, and I do not know about you, but I wouldn't do what he did for a friend, I couldn't, I would want to, but honestly, I couldn't.

He died on our cross, we killed him, our God. We owe him so much, and he is so awesome in so many ways. This is why Jesus is so important to me...

I WAS going to use King David, but since my hubby already covered that. My next choice (at least today) is Peter.

For one in stepped out of the boat onto the water. "'Come,' he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus." Matthew 14:29

How many of us are willing to risk something and actually step out of the boat onto the turbulant waves of life. Many want to make sure it is safe before they take the step. Jesus called him and he came.

I relate to him because he had his moments of doubt. He denied he knew Jesus. (Matthew 26:69-75) He'd had personally witnessed the miracles that Jesus performed, and yet he still wavered when his own life might possibly be at risk. He also totally turned that attitude around and was maytred for Jesus.

He is important because he gives a really human face to what it means to follow Jesus. It is about taking risks, about having moments of doubt, but ultimately giving it all for his sake.
