Best Linux for low-end system?

The P1's themselves probably aren't worth all that much, but the coolest use would be to be clients of a more powerful application server similar to LTSP. Cool, eh? ;)

I'd heard of this before, but that would require a lot of extra motherboards....Which I don't have -_-

I just got these in a big package deal from where I used to work.

Oh, JUST CPU's? Hmm.. good luck.

Quote[/b] ]I will never mod an XBox because I will never own an XBox. Microsoft has enough money without me giving them more.

Microsoft actually looses money on every Xbox sold. Their game is to make it up in the sales of games and accesories. So buy an Xbox and cheat M$ out of its profit margin on the unit.

Also, read the fine print and you will find out the warranty on an Xbox is only 90 days... So after three months, mod away.

I have not had great success gettng many distros to work with my hardware. I built this machine with all generic parts and still Mandrake can't handle it.

Maybe that's why the Lord led me to the red piece of clothing I like so much.

And CCGR... when I need more packages I just find more servers to add to /etc/apt/sources.list

Quote[/b] (SLAM @ Mar. 07 2004,1:38)]Gah! Don't quit! You want Linux and you know it ;-).
I realize more and more every day just how true that is. ;_; I just need a 300+ MHz PC to install Fedora on...and I won't be able to put together another spare PC with that power until I at least put the guts of my secondary PC in a new case...which will cost $60 minimum. Funds are, unfortunately, limited, but I am determined to tinker with Linux again (I played around with Mandrake Linux for a few months) one of these days...

Quote[/b] ]My new roomate has an X-Box, that was the first thing I convinced him to do. The resolution is really crummy though, 640x480 on a TV screen makes even 14-16 pt font hard to read.

As best I know, the max resolution on a TV screen is 320x240 or 320x200 (don't remember which). Does the X-Box natively run at a higer resolution for some reason? It wouldn't make much sense...

GentooX is a specialized distribution of linux for the XBox, NTSC is 640x480 I think, and PAL is somewhere around there too. Nevertheless, text is near illegible on a TV screen. I suggest setting up the xbox as a server, and then using ssh to do everything from there on in. I've run it on my roomate's x-box, it's nothing to scoff at, but theres really no point to even touching the gui while it's on a TV screen.
