Best freeware for burning CDs/DVDs?

Can anyone recommend a quality freeware program for burning CDs and DVDs? I use Nero on my primary PC (and like it) but need a second program for my secondary PC.

itunes will burn audio cd's and mp3 cd/dvd's.
Ehh~ Any other recommendations? I didn't want to install iTunes on this PC. Just a personal preference, nothing against Apple.

I use regular old Windows Media Player for most of my burning and ripping of CDs. I will also occasionally use Nero.

For DVDs, I use DVDShrink. It's a great program for backing up your movies. If the movie is copy-protected, I will use DVDFab Decrypter.

I would have recommended deepburner, but they went the shareware way. It used to be completely free though. It's probably still a decent program, but I haven't used it in a long time since I got nero.

I'll take this time to point out that CGA does not condone the use of applications that reverse-engineer copy protection methods. Use them at your own risk. =D

I believe you're covered if you only stick to movies you've already bought, just to make a back up copy.

Maybe. But either way, we have to throw that disclaimer out there.

Yeah, but what I meant was that it used to be completely free, now there are features that you have to buy (though I don't think they took any features away from the free users). I dunno, it just bugs me when freeware goes shareware. But hey, they made the software, they're entitled to a bit of money from it so whatever.

I received a free license for Sonic MyDVD 5.3 LE and RecordNow 7.3 LE. Should I install it or use a freeware program instead?

Sorry Tek but I've never heard of Sonic MyDVD. If you have a license key for it, I'd say try it out and if you don't like it, get rid of it. If you are worried about spy/malware, create a system restore point before installing it.

Id recommend getting Nero, it works, some people dont like it, but for most purposes its usable and fairly frinedly. I Have it on all my machines because it always comes with my liteon drives i order :P

Nero is definitely the best in my opinion. The free version (comes with burners) is missing some advanced features but most casual users don't need them.

I havent ever had issues with them, of course i do most of my burning in linux with a wonderful command line tool that can give nero a run for its money on image and music cd burning
