I'm hoping on putting together 5 v 5 world pvp groups. I'd be snuffing myself with a holy handgrenade if this hasnt been tried before.
The concept of "city raids" is, from my experience, is really more like an outdoor npc raid with all the guards...
So what I'm thinking about doing is writing up a post on the stonemaul forums to see if anyone on the horde side is interested in setting up these "battlegroups." With the new cross-server bg's coming up, im worried that its not gonna be too popular, but i hope to give it a try.
The layout of the world pvp "rounds" is simple; 5 v 5 groups, 1st group that wipes loses. Nobody fallen releases spirit until the round is over, since there can be battle-rezzes and soulstones and ankhs to be used. When round is over, the defeated group should be allowed to rez and mana/buff up. When both sides' leaders give a /ready, round 2 begins. This can go on until either side decides to give up. All consumables, cooldowns, and various trinkets are allowed, unlike in duels. The closest thing i can compare this to is the Gurubashi arena, but this is meant to be a lot more organized.
The biggest problem with this is possibly integrity; one side or the other might not be "honorable" as to properly wait for the other side to rez up if their side wins. There should be ways to communicate with the opposite faction.
Another problem is gear difference; its not gonna be any show if 5 tier 2's come along against 5 60's in greens. Im thinking that maybe there should be a gear requirement, like at least a rank 10/tier 0.5 set should be had for attending these.
I think this is how WoW pvp was meant to be. as many blizzard posters and players alike have agreed, WoW pvp balance is based around group pvp. Wsg and AB are good and all, but playing capture the flag really doesnt have that "war" feel, as the name "warcraft" should have. henceforth, organized outdoor battles is an idea i have and hope to make true.
