UPDATE: It seems like EA's marketing/PR plan is to gradually reveal info on this game over the year.

I have decided to change this thread to serve as a catch-all for any news or other info tidbits for the upcoming Battlefield 3 game that is planned to be released this fall. Feel free to post any news on BF3 like preview articles, gameplay/teaser trailers, interviews,
etc.

Something to mark your calendars. DICE is planning to reveal Battlefield 3 on March 1st during GDC: http://news.bigdownload.com/2011/01/11/battlefield-3-to-get-official-reveal-on-march-1-at-gdc/

I noticed that DICE plan to make presentations to GDC attendees on their Frostbite 2.0 engine, which Battlefield 3 will use.

Although no official requirements have been published, the DICE devs have hinted that BF3 will not run on Windows XP. In fact, it is designed with DX11 and a 64-bit OS in mind: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/01/04/battlefield-3-pc-receiving-special-effort-wont-run-on-windows-xp/

Personally, that means I need a new rig when BF3 comes out.

First Battlefield 3 Teaser Trailer, Prone, Jets, and 64-player MP on PC confirmed

On the Battlefield blog, the first teaser trailer of Battlefield 3 is posted as well as confirmation that Prone, Jets, and 64 players on the PC is confirmed. Here is the link.

The trailer honestly shows very little, but I really dig the Terminator-like distortion to the classic Battlefield theme.

Is 64 bigger than the original BF? Wasn't sure if that was only 32 peeps.

I read that Battlefield 3 will support "dedicated servers." Now I'm waiting to read if these are real dedicated servers or pseudo-dedicated servers with crippled access only provided by hosting companies that send kickbacks to EA.

If you're not going to do it right, EA, don't do it at all.
